Chapter 1 - The Book

"Hmm? What's that?"

Walking on the streets absent-mindedly, Olivia accidentally kicked something just lying there. It seemed like a book? A storybook, maybe? It was hard to tell, considering the almost withered off leather covering of the book. It looked like a spell-book of a witch; you know, the ones which would usually be portrayed as such. She picked it up. Shaking off all the dust on it and making disgusted faces, she took a proper look at it. It didn't have anything written on the cover; just some weird designs even she, herself, couldn't describe. She opened it to reveal the first page. A large text was written in bold handwriting; it was probably the title of the book. It read:

''Shadowed Fate'? What's that supposed to mean? Is it a storybook? It doesn't have the author's name written on it.' Her thoughts echoed, as that book was the only thing that she was able to think about at the time. She had forgotten all of her worries till now, just because of that mysterious book. It sort of... made her hopeful; that maybe this was the solution to all of her problems?

She quickly flipped through the pages, searching for something, anything that could reveal the identity of that book to her. That's when she finally saw the first page of the first chapter. She instantly shut the book with a loud 'thud', dragging some attention; as if her behavior with the book wasn't weird enough. She decided that she would read it comfortably, once she returns home.

She had taken a cab to get back. Initially, she was planing to walk home, but she was too impatient. Reaching her pockets, she pulled out the set of keys, unlocked the door to the apartment, entered and slam the door shut right behind her. The lady standing outside almost dropped her phone!

Changing her clothes, freshening herself up and having some snacks was the tasks that she had completed before jumping onto the couch with the book, and starting to read it. She didn't hurriedly flip through the pages like she did at the streets; the vice versa should've happened for her own sake. She saw the title of the first chapter and it read:

'A Girl in her Hometown. '
