Chapter 1 - The arrangement

Lena stared at the diamond ring on her finger, feeling nothing but dread. She had just agreed to marry a man she had never met, a man who belonged to the family that had been her father's enemy for decades. She knew it was a political move, a way to end the bloody feud between the Russo and the Moretti clans. But she also knew it was a trap, a way to keep her under her father's control.

She looked up at her father, who was sitting across from her in his lavish office. He had a smug smile on his face, as if he had just won a game of chess. He was a tall, imposing man, with dark hair and cold eyes. He was the boss of the Russo family, the most powerful and feared mafia clan in the city. He had built his empire on violence, corruption, and intimidation. He had no mercy for his enemies, and no love for his daughter.

"Lena, my dear, you have made me very proud today," he said, in a voice that sounded more like a threat than a compliment. "You have accepted your duty as a Russo, and agreed to marry Ezekiel Moretti. This is a historic moment for our family, and for the city. You are the key to peace and prosperity."

Lena forced a smile, but felt sick to her stomach. She knew her father didn't care about peace or prosperity. He only cared about power and money. He had arranged this marriage to secure his alliance with the Moretti family, and to gain access to their resources and territory. He had sold his daughter to the highest bidder, without any regard for her feelings or wishes.

She wondered what Ezekiel Moretti was like. She had only seen his picture once, when her father had shown it to her. He was a handsome man, with blond hair and blue eyes. He had a sharp jawline and a confident smile. He looked like a movie star, or a model. But Lena knew that appearances could be deceiving. She had heard rumors about him, rumors that made her shiver. They said he was ruthless, cunning, and cruel. They said he had a dark secret, a secret that could destroy them both.

She felt a surge of anger and resentment. She hated her father for forcing her into this marriage. She hated Ezekiel Moretti for being her enemy. She hated herself for being so weak and helpless. She wished she could run away, to escape this nightmare. But she knew she had no choice. She was trapped in a web of lies, deceit, and murder. She was a pawn in a deadly game. She was a mafia princess.
