Chapter 52 - Map

Seeing the elder suddenly brandish his sword, all the young disciples quickly went on guard and stood behind the elder.

"Elder Wu, what happened? Is a monstrous beast coming?" A thin, malnourished-looking boy asked, a little worried.

If even the elder is on guard, the beast must not be simple.

"I don't know if it's a beast or something else, I just felt like we were being watched in that direction," said the elder, pointing to a tree in the distance.

He tried to look directly at what he felt was watching them, but his vision wasn't good enough to see exactly what it was, though he saw something.

'Bird, I felt we were being watched. Look at that place and see exactly what is watching us.'

Elder Wu was telepathically communicating with the strange black bird on his shoulder. The beast wasn't intelligent enough to converse, but it understood the elder's intentions.

The bird then saw a silhouette at the top of the tree; it looked like a person. When it looked directly into their eyes, their gazes met, and the bird let out a terrified cry, hiding on Elder Wu's back.

'Tsk, there seems to be something terrible in that place. The bird doesn't feel fear like that for many things.'

'At least it doesn't seem to be coming in our direction, maybe it's just warning us not to go in its direction.'

"Yes, that must be it."

"There really is something in that tree watching us; it seems to be a person," the elder said to the concerned disciples.

The disciples looked at the tree, but they couldn't see anything because it was too far away.

"Elder, are you sure there was something? Can you see from this distance?"

"Not in your cultivation realm, but those above can. I can see a little."

"Let's go; we weren't heading in that direction anyway. It's better not to approach. Let's continue towards our goal."

****************************

Jone, who was in the tree observing the group of people, was a bit surprised when they looked directly at where he was, completely on guard.

"Oh, that old man managed to feel my gaze. How? It seems he has something special." Jone wasn't using any aura or energy, so he didn't know how he was detected.

'That bird doesn't seem ordinary.'

"Hmm, they must be here for something. Should I follow them? What if they are here for some treasure or something important?"

"That's interesting. Alright, if it's something valuable, I'll take it. After all, this is the territory of the Demon Horn Sect; it wouldn't be theft since it's technically in our territory," Jone said, smiling as he jumped from one tree to another, keeping the group in his sight.

On the way, Jone continued to hunt any beasts he could see near him, quickly killing and devouring them without losing sight of those people.

This continued for three days.

Until Jone saw that group of people reach a slightly strange place in the Beast Mountain, he was a bit surprised by something else.

"So many people? There are thirty young disciples and three elders. There were two other groups of people waiting in this place. It seems that something interesting will happen here."

Jone said as he continued to observe these people from afar, wondering what would happen here.

****************************

Elder Wu had arrived in front of the other two groups of people with a slightly uncomfortable look on his face, feeling that whatever was observing him was following.

"Old Wu, so you came too," a hideous old woman said, looking at the elder.

"Tsk, why send all of you, old witch? You better behave."

"Hahaha, my old friend Wu, it's good to see you again," an ordinary-looking old man spoke with a strange voice, smiling in a slightly bizarre manner.

"Who's your friend? Stop chatting; show your part and release the map. We're at risk staying here for so long," the elder said as a piece of beast skin appeared in his hand.

The other two appeared pieces of beast skin similar to Elder Wu's, and when the three pieces were brought close, they quickly merged and fused on their own, emitting a strange energy.

It soon transformed into something resembling a map.

"At least the information was correct. I'll take care of the map. Come on, when we find the place, each one will take care of their business. Whatever we find belongs to whoever has the strength to take it." Elder Wu said this, taking the map and showing it to the other two elders.

They didn't mind Elder Wu keeping the map; after all, it would be useless once they reached the destination.

"Look, we're here. We have to get to this location; it's close to the central area of Beast Mountain. It will be dangerous for the disciples; we have to be careful."

"We'll arrive in another five days, according to the map. Let's go." Elder Wu said, calling his disciples and heading in the direction indicated on the map.

****************************

Jone saw the large group of people starting to walk again and began to follow them.

"That direction leads to the central area. Are they going there? It seems more dangerous than I thought, but none of them give me a dangerous feeling like Yue does, so I guess they are weaker."

"Let's see what will happen."
