Chapter 37 - Busy morning

After making all the preparations, Ye Fei, dressed in new clothes, walked out of the house. When he reached the entrance, he was surprised to find Yang Yi and a group of people discussing something with the security guard. Ye Fei involuntarily slowed down his pace, wanting to hear what they were talking about.

"Safety guard, just let us in, okay?" Yang Yi coquettishly pleaded.

"No, you broke the fire extinguisher yesterday, and we all got criticized because of it," the security guard replied.

Yang Yi pleaded, "Mr. Security Guard, I've told you, that wasn't us!"

"No way, absolutely not," the security guard firmly said.

Yang Yi blinked and asked, "Mr. Security Guard, did you see the black Passat with the license plate number Jin A7352 drive out?"

The security guard shook his head, "Didn't see it."

Yang Yi raised her hand and turned to her companions, saying, "That guy hasn't left yet. Let's wait; he'll definitely come out. I asked my dad, there's no food in the fridge, so he'll definitely come out to eat. Then we can teach him a lesson and get back at him for humiliating us yesterday."

A girl pouted and said, "Yi Yi, we've helped you vent your anger. We haven't even had breakfast, and you're making us wait like this!"

Yang Yi waved her hand and said, "No problem, I'll order takeout right away. Today, I must confront him and let out my frustrations."

Ye Fei couldn't help but shake his head. It seemed that his new outfit was very successful, as none of them had recognized him.

Seeing Ye Fei looking at her, Yang Yi raised her eyebrows and said, "What are you looking at? Haven't seen a beauty before? And Seven Wolves, you can tell he's a big pervert at first sight."

Ye Fei shook his head speechlessly. Indeed, she was a fashionable newcomer, but she didn't speak kindly from the start.

As Ye Fei walked further away, a group of girls with short stature, round faces, and long hair looked at his back in confusion and one of them said, "Why do I feel like this person looks familiar?"

Yang Yi took the arm of the little girl and said, "Tingting, I admire you. You had your eyes on the second-generation rich guy yesterday, and now you're interested in the big pervert. Can't you have better taste?"

Tingting mumbled, "I'm not wrong, this man does look familiar! Strange, why can't I remember where I've seen him before?"

"Forget it, stop talking. Brothers and sisters, get ready to teach that second-generation rich guy a lesson, and then I'll treat you to a big meal," Yang Yi said loudly.

The crowd cheered.

Hearing the shouts from behind, Ye Fei secretly rejoiced. He was enjoying this and was determined not to let them catch a glimpse of him, even if it took until the afternoon.

After walking a few steps, Ye Fei noticed a restaurant ahead called Hong's Private Kitchen.

At some point, an increasing number of people had stopped patronizing star-rated hotels and had developed a liking for these private kitchens, causing private kitchens to spring up like mushrooms along the roadside. Ye Fei and Wang Yue had been there a few times, experiencing both good and impostor ones.

Looking around, Ye Fei felt that there were no better restaurants nearby, so he entered this relatively luxurious restaurant with an unknown sports car parked outside. After all, dressed in new clothes, he couldn't just go to a roadside stall for a meal.

Upon entering the restaurant, Ye Fei's eyes lit up. The restaurant was not large, but it was decorated in a very unique manner, with bamboo dividers creating small compartments and many plants, giving a refreshing feeling of returning to nature.

As it wasn't yet dining time, there were no other customers in sight, and not even a server could be seen.

"Anyone here?" Ye Fei called out.

"Who is it? It's too early; can't people get some sleep?" came a lazy voice from upstairs.

Ye Fei followed the voice.

First, a pair of long, slender legs came into view, and for a moment, Ye Fei thought the person was naked.

High heels made a crisp sound on the wooden stairs, and a woman in a red nightgown, with long hair draped over her shoulders, slowly descended the staircase.

Seeing that Ye Fei was a stranger, the woman frowned and asked, "Who are you? What are you here for?"

Ye Fei hesitated, unsure of who he really was.

This was clearly a restaurant.

"Is this Hong's Private Kitchen?" Ye Fei asked.

The woman nodded.

Furrowing his brow, Ye Fei said, "This is a restaurant, and I'm here to dine. Please stir-fry a few dishes for me!"

The woman stared at Ye Fei with wide eyes.

Ye Fei asked, somewhat puzzled, "Is there a problem?"

"No, of course not. Just wait for me, I'll go do it right away," the woman said, beaming with excitement as she rushed into the kitchen.

Ye Fei shook his head, thinking this might just be a makeshift private kitchen. He had always thought this woman was the restaurant owner. Could it be that the chef was cooking in pajamas? Ye Fei suddenly began to doubt whether he had come to the right place.

But he decided to wait for a while. After all, the place seemed well-decorated, and the food shouldn't be too bad. The high rent in Beijing was distressing.

Soon, the woman came out carrying two plates of food, still wearing the same red pajamas, but now covered in oil stains, with disheveled hair and some white liquid on her face that looked like starch.

Ye Fei felt something was off; both dishes were charred black.

Pointing at the dishes, he asked with a fearful tone, "What is this?"

"This is stir-fried cabbage! We didn't have many ingredients in the kitchen, so I cooked this. Let me tell you, this is how it is in a private kitchen - we cook with whatever we have!" The woman's voice suddenly grew louder.

Ye Fei was dumbfounded. Stir-fried cabbage turned out pitch black?

He used his chopsticks to pick up a bit and could tell it was mushrooms, but was the white part really cabbage? Had she added too much soy sauce, or was it burned? Looking at the woman in pajamas, Ye Fei could no longer see her beauty and only felt fear.

"What about this?" Ye Fei pointed to the other dish.

It was also black, short, and in segments.

"Garlic sprouts! Can't you even recognize this?" the woman scolded.

Speechless, Ye Fei put down his chopsticks. He didn't dare to eat. It was understandable for cabbage to turn black, but how did green garlic sprouts turn black? Such culinary skills, and she still had the nerve to run a private kitchen by the roadside. It was truly beyond what an ordinary person could do.

"Well, I have something to do. I'll leave first," Ye Fei grabbed his bag and prepared to leave.

The woman blocked Ye Fei and said, "Hey, what are you doing? I labored to cook these dishes, and you won't even taste them? Are you mocking me?"

Helplessly, Ye Fei said, "Can't I pay for it?"

With that, he took out his wallet. Now he just wanted to escape from this place and sell his gold. As for eating, he really didn't want to mention it anymore. Seeing such disgusting food, he wouldn't need to eat for a whole day.

As they argued, the restaurant's door swung open.

Both of them looked over.

The voice of the woman in red suddenly softened, "Ah, Sister Hong, you're back."

Ye Fei watched as another woman entered, dressed in beige clothes, with neat short hair, beautiful double eyelids, a melon seed face, a straight nose, rosy lips, and fair skin. The only jarring part was that she was carrying a basket of vegetables.

"Sister Hong" glanced at the two plates of food on the table, then at Ye Fei's wallet, and immediately understood.

She glared fiercely at the woman in red, apologizing to Ye Fei, "I'm really sorry, my sister can't cook. What would you like to eat? I'll make you two dishes!"

Ye Fei hurriedly shook his head. After the scene just now, he had lost confidence in it.

No matter how beautiful this woman was, perhaps the food she made was even more dreadful. Ye Fei didn't want to leave with a psychological shadow of not daring to enter a private kitchen. So he said, "No need! How much for these two dishes?"

"Sister Hong" smiled and said, "Wait a moment, it'll be ready soon. Lili, come with me."

The woman in red followed behind "Sister Hong," passing by Ye Fei, and gave him a hard kick, as if he had done something wrong.

Puzzled, Ye Fei thought, forget it, I'll wait a while longer.

Sure enough, a few minutes later, the woman brought out two plates of food and a plate of fried rice.

It was still stir-fried cabbage and garlic sprouts. It seemed that this woman was determined to salvage the situation.

The fried rice was Yangzhou fried rice, and although they were all ordinary dishes, the aroma was delightful. Ye Fei looked at "Sister Hong" in surprise, and the woman in red sneered, "Kid, you're in luck. If you want to eat Sister Hong's cooking, you have to make a reservation."

"Lili!" "Sister Hong" called out softly.

The woman in red obediently closed her mouth.

Ye Fei wasn't polite either. He picked up his chopsticks and started eating. It was truly delicious. Unconsciously, he finished the two dishes and the rice.

Burping contentedly, he saw the woman in red sneering beside him, and a rare blush appeared on Ye Fei's face.

"How much?" Ye Fei asked.

This time, he truly meant it. It was just too delicious.

"Sister Hong" smiled and said, "No need. My sister likes to play around. I'm apologizing on her behalf for scaring you just now."

Thinking about the food from earlier, Ye Fei shivered; it wasn't just being scared, it was almost terrifying. He took out two hundred yuan from his wallet and placed it on the table, saying, "Eating requires payment. Thank you. This is the most delicious meal I've had in a restaurant."

With that, Ye Fei picked up his bag and left without looking back.

"Sister Hong, what does he mean? He said it was the most delicious meal he's had in a restaurant. Does that mean the food at home is even better than ours?" The woman in red said angrily.

"Sister Hong" shook her head and remained silent.

Walking on the road, savoring the meal from earlier, Ye Fei thought, great cooking skills. If only I could eat this every day. After all, he didn't like cooking. If he could order meals here, he wouldn't have to cook.

Not a bad idea. After finishing what I need to do later, I'll discuss it.
