Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Rise."

The soft command from the Lunarian woke up the old researcher who, for the first time, properly studied the figure before him.

She maintained similarity to her previous self, the slightly pointed ears common in Half-Elfs, a similar slightly muscular frame, her hairs reaching her shoulders and similar somatic characteristics; however, she looked about 18 years old, had a much curvier figure and she grew from an height of 171 cm to an height of 180 cm.

Yes, even with all the similarities, no one that would have not known her deeply and personally would have recognized her.

Her hairs, before a vivid red, were now a shining silver, her eyes, before a deep blue, were now twin spheres of crimson light that he could only compare to the phenomena of a Red Moon, having never experienced a Blood Moon himself, her skin was now even paler than before and the various scars she had were now absent like any previous small imperfections.

She was clad in a tasteful white shirt with short black pants.

The being before him was without a doubt perfect.

The smile, adorned with sharp fangs, before him enlarged as he stared at her before she continued speaking, her tone calm yet full of pride.

"There is no need for you to bow, is there? Even if your worship of me is only natural, you should still be able to speak to me face to face, shouldn't you?"

This words caused a cold wave to pass through him as he finally remembered why exactly he waited so long before turning her in a Vampire.

Even without any of the memories of either of her lives before, she was an incredibly proud individual that at 15 years old was willing and able to fight his Master, a 500 years old Vampire, and all his subordinates to buy time for her younger sister to escape while using no special weapon all the way from sunset to almost sunrise.

She was now in a superior body and he could only be happy that he would never see what she would become when she matured as he would certainly be dead by that point.

"Now, why exactly did you help my birth as a Lunarian?"

At her question he breathed in before responding.

"I am going to die soon and so, before then, I want all of my work to mean something."

"And so you Awoke someone to be your student. How much time do you have left?"

"At least 15 days and at most 45 days."

"I see." She nodded before gesturing for him to proceed. "Tell me your name and what your plan for me was."

He nodded quickly before starting to guide her to the room where he once spoke with his late Master.

"Very well. My name is Edgar. My original plan was to use the blood that my Master gifted me to ascend a Ghoul in a Vampire. My Master had a maximum potential as a Vampire of B-Rank and so any Vampire he transformed had a maximum potential of C-Rank. I myself am at this Rank. However a newly reborn Vampire with so little potential would be quickly hunted down and killed. And then there is the previous you."

They finally entered said room and the Lunarian moved to take the chair behind the desk, sitting there before gesturing the Vampire to continue.

"Your Unique Skill "Singularity" even at E-Rank would give you tremendous efficiency and so, with the same ammount of Blood, you'd reach a maximum potential of B-Rank, equal to my former Master, instead of C-Rank. The influence of the Red Moon should have been enough to reach A-Rank in potential and because of the amplification of the Red Moonlight to Blood Moonlight and your Unique Skill you Ascended into a Lunarian. How impossibly unpredictable."

"Oh? What did you expect instead? Certainty you didn't expect a simple Vampire, now, did you? It was just that you were aiming too low."

"I suppose so, but from my point of view the fact that instead of a Vampire or an Ancestor, what I prayed for, I now find myself before a Lunarian can only be a sign that you are even more exceptional than I expected."

"Obviously. I am the best, after all."

A sigh escaped Edgar's mouth before he nodded, after all, the proof was before him.

"Well, I want to teach you as much as I can before giving you all of my research before I die."

She nodded before responding.

"Very well. Where do you want to start?"

"I would say to start by teaching you "Soul Harmony", a Growth Skill I invented personally."

"Hoh? Should I be impressed then?"

The challenge was heard and he smiled in response.

"At the start, it's nothing much, but it's very good when you are strong. But to do that I would need to use my Unique Skill "Soul Link" to help you."

"Okay."

He nodded and hesitantly held out his hand that was then taken by the Lunarian.

She found herself in an empty void, looking down she saw herself looking back, their feet one on the other, looking up she saw another her looking back, their heads 10 centimeters away from her.

"I see." She watched around her seeing the same situation in all directions before thinking to herself. *The name of the Growth Skill is Soul Harmony and the name of the Unique Skill is Soul Link. Consequently this must be… My Unique Skill, Singularity. Makes Sense. But if this is my Unique Skill, I should be in my Soul and so there should also be my Racial Skill "Lunarian", but it's not here.*

She looked around herself again before nodding and concentrating on the flow of her own blood and her heartbeat.

Two minute later she found herself in a barren wasteland.

The floor was not dirt, but a solid layer of blood.

The sky was made by another layer of blood with only a big vaguely blue sphere beyond said layer.

She nodded accepting it quickly before moving back towards the empty void of before and again towards what she now understood as her image of a Blood Moon while on the surface of it.

She repeated this process over and over again faster and faster until a good hour later the image of the two worlds were overlapping before stopping in the void.

She nodded to herself before closing her left eye and imagining herself on the Blood Moon.

Once there she opened her left eye bringing with her the image of her void.

The two worlds could and maybe should have conflicted and destroyed each other, but there was no need of such conflict.

After all, she is one.

The two worlds separated and so did she.

The two worlds were still one and so, even if she was two, she was one.

The two worlds were now shaped not as worlds, but as two of herself, one made of a chaotic mass of energy of all colors and one a figure made of blood, shadows and Moonlight.

.

This was the message she recieved upon returning to the material world.

"Just one hour and a half… I'm impressed."

"Did you expect anything else? I'm, after all, the best."

"I suppose your pride is deserved. My former Master took a whole day."

"It's also a matter of compatibility with the Skill. Now, tell me, how was my former self?"

"Scarlet was wonderfully terrifying. As a 15 years old she was B-Class. All this with a Unique Skill that isn't directly combat-related."

"How did she fight?"

"No-Attribute Sorcery to enhance Unharmed Technique while using her weapon based Skills through Mana Shaping."

"As expected of the previous me. It's without a doubt the most effective way to fight for someone in our situation. Tell me, do you know where nearby Monsters are? I need to fight something."

"Are you sure? Your rebirth was less than 3 hours ago."

"If I want to surpass the previous me I cannot waste time."

"Very well. This way. Tell me, how should I call you?" Edgar started to guide her towards a Ghoul that would function as a guide.

"A name, eh? Scarlet is an option, but I am not her anymore. Well, I suppose I am her, after all, we do share our Unique Skill so we are the same. However, it's not an appropriate name for me. Hm, Luna? Yes, Luna it is. My name from now on is Luna."

Edgar watched with a deadpan expression as she happily nodded to herself satisfied.

*Isn't that just "Moon" in another language? Or even just an abbreviation of Lunarian? *
