Chapter 6 - Book 1: Chapter 5: Leaders and Captains

The elder stares at Unit 04 leaving and slowly walks to the same room Sifir was in. Looking at the side wall with a knowing grin, I see there are only two masks remaining on the wall. With a wave of a hand, the Elder brings up a blue screen to see how Sifir made his decision to pick the black mask.

"Very interesting. So, Sifir is a naturally cautious person who tends not to overlook the smallest details. However, Sifir is very decisive in his choices. I can use this. Unfortunately, there are a few people that like to monitor my movements."

"Those three masks that I set up have three different purposes, and Sifir will never know either."

"Too bad for Sifir; his judgments were right. The red mask was a fire mask, and upon removing the mask, it would surely burn his soul slowly until he died. It is truly a pity; I would like to see that happen."

"The green mask was highly venomous, and it would be released into the blood stream after removing the mask. Sifir's scream could have been music to my ear. However, not as good as the red mask causing pain."

"The best choice is the black mask. Since the black mask has an untraceable tracker, once, a person touched the mask. The essence of the mask will infuse itself into the host body. So no matter where the host goes, the host of the mask can be found with ease."

"Time to see what is happening in other places. Let me go to my room and meditate." The elder slowly disappears like an abreeze on a fall day.

----

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Come in."

The door slowly opens up.

A young lady walks through the doorway and enters a simple and lavish room. Incense is burning in all four corners of the room. Each had its own unique blend to promote clarity and better cultivation.

"Hello mother."

When the mature figure turns around and looks at the young lady, who had some similar figures to her expert for their aura, this mature beauty, with her natural sex appeal, can arouse any male who is close to her. With long white eyelashes, burgundy hair mixed with a hint of white hair that drops to the middle of her back, curves that most females would fight for, and a modest chest, Her skin is smooth as velvet, her skin tone is a rusty penny, and her eyes are as deep as the darkest ruby. She wore a semi-tight shirt with several buttons undone, a long skirt made of the finest silk, and knee-high boots that were crimson. This is Kyri Sunchaser, the former matriarch of the Sunchaser clan.

"Child, how many times must I tell you? You are not my child. You are Sol."

"Well, you are not wrong. However, you are not right either. Upon my wakening, both of us share this body currently. Even if I want to control it, I won't."

"And why is that?"

Judah takes a seat in front of Kyri. A large, dark wooden table sat in between the two of them. This table was solid and gave off a smooth yet unique blend of spices and herbs that can slowly promote a quicker cultivation time.

"Simply. This body isn't strong enough to contain my raw power and soul essence. Judah will help me find a better body or find someone who can create one for me. Either way, it is a win-win for us."

"Is it a win-win? My Sunchaser clan is now in the middle of a tug of war. In addition, many clans and tribes want us to make a move to the secured position of the new leading clan."

"Don't be so shortsighted that you cannot see the wolves under the bushes and the lurking predators in the trees. The most important thing is staying neutral and gathering more powerful allies. Nothing more and nothing less."

"It is pointless to do that! We must strike quickly and decisively to take advantage of the current situation."

Kyri creases her brows more intensely.

With a disappointed look on Judah's face. Anyone seeing this from the outside would find it funny. However, they wouldn't be able to tell anyone. Since they would be no longer a part of this world.

"And this is why you are no longer the matriarch of the Sunchaser. It is because of your rashness and being too quick to take action. Sigh. I had higher hopes for you, Kyri. You are more capable than what you give off and appear to be. Let's take a break from this for now. I will return to my slumber. You can now speak with Judah if you so wish."

With no room to speak, Kyri just looked at Judah's aura. The aura that was around Judah was pure and stainless. Like, nothing in the world could make it dirty. As fast as the aura disappears, Judah's regular aura reappears. This aura was pure, but not as pure as the latter, and it felt like you could add a spot of blackness to make this once beautiful princess fall.

Judah looks away from her mother and looks at one of the incense burners. "I see, you are using the Nine Yang Ying Miracle Incense. A natural treasure that can help comprehend the laws of the world."

"You seem like you are learning well from Sol. Let me be clear. Just because I am humbled in front of Sol, that doesn't mean I will submit to you. You are going to show me that I was wrong."

"Since we have castaway formalities, I won't be polite either. Yes, I have learned a few things. Like those powers that are trying to see how much it is going to take for us to move against either night or midnight."

"Their backers are more terrifying than you think. And if we are not strong enough, then it is a foolish errand. I don't wish to see my poor little mother be enslaved and used as a cauldron for men."

These words lit a fire in Kyri, and her eyes burned with wild fury. She, the old matriarch of Sunchaser, would never let anyone speak to her about the mere temerity that Judah had just spoken with. With three slow nods, looking at Judah coldly.

"Bet! Listen here, you little brat. Don't think I can crush your throat in this instant. Anywhere in this room, you are within my arm's reach." Kyri's energy slowly began to rise. "I have killed countless people for less. I don't care if you are Sol's container. I don't care if you are the current matriarch of this clan. So, keep playing around, and you will find out the price of messing with me, Kyri Sunchaser, The Life Ender."

"Now get out of my room before I change my mind. And I have one less family in this world."

Every word was laced with a thick killing intent that most people would have suffocated in. Even if Judah had a calm face on the outside, her heart was racing on the inside.

Unknown to Kyri, Sol told Judah to speak those words to see how she would react. And Kyri reacted like Sol thought she would. If someone had told Kyri everything she had encountered was a test to stay the leader of the clan, at this current moment, the best she can be is regarded as a very high captain with two legions to her name. It is quite pitiful for someone of her stature, power, and prestige.

Judah gathers herself before she gets up and stands. Looking carefully at Kyri's frosty face, she took a long and hard breath out. Judah's face became calmer and firmer with her will to surpass all other matriarchs in the Sunchaser clan.

"Today, my plan was to go over the arrangements and countermeasures for the Elder movements. However, since we have come this far, there is nothing to speak about. I will send someone with the information, and you can make the arrangements for stopping the elder. I will take my left now."

Kyri's face became more frosty. Knowing the temperament of Judah. Kyri can tell there is no longer a familiar bond in Judah's heart. Kyri stated her stance on the matter. Kyri can only move forward and cannot retreat.

Judah moves to the door before exiting the room. I looked back at Kyri and spoke. "Sifir will be the future figure that many will have to bow down to if he comes back from this mission." Without saying other words, Judah left the room.

A speechless Kyri could not believe that Judah said that Sifir would be the leading figure in the future. Kyri had many other opinions and pinned other talents in the younger generation better than Sifir.

"Judah must know something that most of us do not know yet. So, what did you let that little brat take a glimpse at?"

Still sitting in her seat. The old matriarch was extremely beautiful, even when mad. Still, Kyri had a frosty and murderous air around her, even when she was pondering the last comments of Judah. What most people will learn from this short exchange is that Judah's ruthlessness is hidden deep, like an arrow in the night.

----

Outside of the location of Elder's build. Unit 04 took a short break to look at the map and judge the best route.

"Death Sword, we are currently in the middle of the Sunchaser and Midnight clan borders. If we move north, we will end up in the Night Clan territory. The city we need to enter is Black Port to cross the Everlasting continent."

"That is true, Purple Night. If we take that route, we will be forced to enter Silver Lake City as well before we can enter Black Port."

"Silver Lake City? I just happened to collect a flavor from that City Lord. I, Jagged, never leave a flavor unchecked."

Both Death Sword and Purple Night look at Jagged with annoyance. Even if their masks cover up their faces, Sifir looks at all of this with indifference toward him.

"Fall Night, what is your opinion on this matter?"

"Purple Night, the quickest route would be anything that doesn't make our journey to Black Port troublesome. However, you are probably not looking for this kind of answer. I am right."

"You are right, Fall Night." Purple Night placed one hand on her hip, waiting for Fall Night to continue.

"Since that is the case, in my humble but very accurate opinion, we should take this route through Rainy Mist Forest, which will take us to the Seven Element Mountain Range. This should cut our time by half."

"Fall Night, is this route a little dangerous? Most cultivators who are under the Human Realm middle stage cannot pass the Seven Element Mountain Range."

"That is true, Purple Night. However, we don't have to go through the whole mountain range. If we get to the third peak and exit, we should have no issues getting to Silver Lake City in 3 days."

"Death Sword, what is your opinion on this matter?" Purple Night gave Death Sword a knowing look.

"It does have some merit to it. Fall Night, why is the 3rd peak and not the 6th or 7th peak?"

"Death Sword and Purple Night must know that each peak has its own dangers and monsters. The third peak is either the strongest or weakest. It also gives us a chance to hone a few skills if needed. In addition, if there are any people tracking us, it will give us enough cover."

"Why would there be people following us on fall nights?" Purple Night asked curiously.

"Simply, since the Elder had requested someone from the Midnight Clan, that information should be leaked or gathered by now. Since many clans are not sure what the Elder's plans are, why wouldn't they send people to follow us?" No change was found on Sifir. He was calmer than before.

"That is a good answer. Yet, that was not the answer I was looking for this Fall Night. You might be smart. And playing clever will work on people who don't care for schemes. Let me tell you now that there is only one rule in this unit. Strength dictates everything." Purple Night eyes glow softly through her mask and almost tempting voice.

"I will remember this lesson today from Purple Night." Sifir replied flatly and with more indifference than before.

"Fall Night, I am starting to like you a little more and more. You still have a lot to prove to us. Right, Death Sword?"

"Yes. Purple Night will be looking over you, Fall Night. When we split our four-man unit into a two-man unit, Jagged will come with me. For now, let's make a few more options for ourselves."

As they discussed routes and battle formation, Unit 05, the Ghost 01, was not too far from their location. Watching them make different arrangements.

"They seem like they don't care about the world. Too bad they will not see the light of day after this."

The leader of Unit 05 turned to the person who recently spoke. "Shut your mouth! Their mission is just as important as ours. If they fail, so do we. For now, we only have one target. We will not join them in any way, not even support."

"Are you sure, leader?"

With a cold snort. The leader looks at the same person. "It is not too late to request someone else from one of the different Ghost units. Because you will be dead if you ask me another stupid question."

The rest of the members remain silent. Looking at the other unit from a distance. Since their leader had spoken. They watch and study the action around them, knowing that anything can happen.
