I bumped into Daemon on his way out of the keep wearing dragon riding leathers,"Daemon you do realise claiming our uncles dragon this close to his death is considered highly disrespectful, wait the appropriate time and then do it ,there's no one else who can bond with caraxes if rhaenys tries to get her babe to Jaeherys will have it killed he's yours to claim just show some restraint"
That seemed to get him to calm down and think about my proposal at least.
He then begrudgingly said "fine I'll wait two weeks but only two weeks no longer"
I agreed with him it's always good to have an extra adult dragon on hand.
To consolidate Daemon a bit further I asked him to join me in teaching Aemma about our history and high Valyrian
He looked at me a bit oddly after this and asked me which one I was thinking would suit her

He nodded approvingly "makes sense she's big, old and after I claim caraxes the only domesticated dragon without a rider except for balerion but he's nearing the end of his life so wouldn't be suitable anyway.
I nodded and patted him on the back "looks like someone has been paying attention in lessons for once, that's a first"
Daemon pushed my hand away, pouted and then muttered "maybe if those grey rats weren't as boring as watching mortar dry then maybe I would pay attention"

As I was making my way through the red keep to my quarters in Maegors holdfast I walked past an entrance to the castle garden and overheard a raspy voice saying that they would one day be the hand of the king I then heard laughter and a slightly less raspy voice say yeah right your just a second son of a Hightower how are you gonna become hand of the king.
I was about to intervene on the behalf of the first raspy voice who I'm pretty sure is Otto Hightower the perpetrator of the dance of the dragons as I felt bad for him being mocked and bullied when he said that he would push himself into my services and work his way up until he was the one running the kingdom while I did whatever I liked at this I was like yeah right like that is happening Hightower and continued on my way to my quarters.
Honestly I get why Daemon hated him so much he rly is a greedy bastard even as a child, it is safe to say that I won't be having him as my hand in this version of events.
