"Who knew it would have taken so long to recover my DP?" Colin said as he stood up and brushed the dirt off his clothes. He has been sitting on the ground trying to refill his DP by absorbing the ambient demonic miasma in the air. Unfortunately, he didn't realize just how difficult it was to manipulate the demonic miasma in the air. To pull it out of the environment, filter it and spread it through out the veins/channels responsible for transporting demonic energy throughout his body. His skill and knowledge in these areas were clearly lacking. Colin has also given some thought to how this technique was different from cultivation since they both drew the energy from the environment.
The best Colin could come up with in terms of differences was the filtration process that took place. He had to filter the demonic miasma to use it as DP, but with cultivation, he didn't filter it and absorbed the raw energy itself. Also, when using this technique to recover DP, he spread the energy throughout the channels in his body, but when cultivating, he had no idea where it went.
With his DP fully recovered, he continued making his way through the tunnels stealthily. He was surprised that while he was busy, nothing attacked him and allowed him to recover peacefully. He walked for an hour, wondering where the rest of the beasts were, until he entered another chamber, except this one was way larger than the others. This one was the size of a soccer field, but the ceiling was still too low to fly effectively. Stepping inside, Colin quickly hid behind the wall as looked inside the chamber. Inside, there were Cavern Moles, Steel Shell Armadillos and another type of beast that looked like an earthworm, the size of snakes. The earth worms were at least thirty centimeters thick and ten meters in length. They were red in colour, and they had no defining features, except the circular ring of fangs on it's face oozing a green acid.
Colin could see an earthworm wrap around the body of an armadillo and the little creature shreaked as the earth worm dug into it's carapace. He could hear loud sizzling sounds and quickly realized that their venom could burn through the carapace that not even he could melt. The moles weren't faring better, infact, they were faring much worse. The earth worms were gobbling them up one after the other and they couldn't even escape through the ground because the earthworm could move even faster than them.
'Brutal, even to a demon, this is brutal.' Colin thought as he looked at the Cavern Moles and Steel Shelled Armadillos being decimented by the earth worms. Just as Colin wondered how he could best reap this situation, he felt a vibration from the wall beside him.
"Shit!!" Colin screamed before he jumped out of the way as an earthworm burst through the wall. The creature barely missed Colin by an inch as it dug into the adjacent wall. Colin delivered a upperkick to the earthworm's undercarriage. The force bent the worms body upward and caused it to fall to the ground wriggling. Colin shot a laser into the creature's head and it went still.
"Huh, the way the moles and armadillos were struggling made it look like you guys were tough, but I guess not. Wait, where-" Colin said and his eyes widened as he realized that he didn't receive any notifications. The earthworm quickly spun around and shot a jet of disgusting green liquid out of it's mouth towards Colin. He quickly crossed his arms and created a shield made of demonic energy, but the acid quickly made a hole in the barrier and went through.
"Ahhhhhhhh!!!" Colin screamed as the acid, burned his skin. It has been a while since he felt this much pain, and he quickly activated [Senses Manipulation] dulling his feeling of pain, as much as possible, but he could still feel the stinging pain all over his body.
"Grrr." Colin let out a low growl before he sent a stream of hellfire towards the worm. The worm screeched in pain as it's body was literally cooked alive. It tried to escape but Colin had already started channeling hellfire into the ground, causing it to almost reach its melting point. The worm had nowhere to escape.
