Paul took me to the highest floor, the forty second floor, this floor was extremely fancy with crystal clear chandeliers and expensive vases. The floor shone with a golden hue and made one feel like royalty as they walked down the white carpeted floor. As I admired the highest floor in the hotel, Paul continued walking forward unfazed as he walked down the clean white carpet with purpose.
"We're here." Paul said as we stood before a white double door with a golden door knob and outline on it's frames.
"What is this place?" I asked as I opened the door and inside, I saw a beautiful queen sized bed, there were many polished furnitures in the room and it even had a balcony. Just as I was wondering why Paul brought me here, I heard a loud growl from behind me. I turned around and saw Paul, his eyes were glowing an intense blue, all his teeth has transformed into sharp canines, his claws were extended, fur was growing on his forearm and his ears have become pointed. He was on the verge of transforming.
I quickly locked the door and stared at Paul. He seemed to have calmed down a bit but he hasn't reverted back to normal.
"Paul you need to calm down. Just breathe, in and out slowly." I said and I could see him visibly trying but each exhale was accompanied by an angry growl. I was getting a bit worried as he wasn't reverting back to his human form but slowly, I could see his fur getting thinner as it slowly receded into his skin. His claws and canines also reverted back until only his glowing blue eyes remained.
"What's wrong?" I asked with a frown
"That room....belongs to Dracos?" He said with while panting loudly. I immediately understood why he went beserk like that, from what I understood, Dracos practically controlled them like a bunch of puppets and forced them to do whatever he wanted. And since they were most likely under contract, they couldn't disobey.
"Everyone else wanted to torch the room since his stench still lingers in the room but I stopped them. Dracos kept some documents in his room that might be useful to you and by extension us." Paul explained and I looked back at the room contemplatively.
"You should go back downstairs to where the others are." I said
"No, I can handle it." Paul objected
"I have no doubt you can, but I think you have been tortured enough by that bastard and I think you should go and celebrate your newfound freedom with your fellow werewolves." I said while looking into his eyes.
"I understand." He said and went downstairs
'I'm an amazing leader.' I thought proudly before looking at the double doors with a frown. I pushed open the door and looked around the room, there were four sets of doors. One led to the balcony, as for the other three.
"I've always wanted to do this." I said with an excited smile on my face and then I kicked down the first door shattering it into splinters. The first door led to the bathroom, the second led to a huge closet filled with expensive coats, shirts, pants and some even more expensive shoes. The third door however.....
*Crack*
The last door led to a poorly lit room filled with jewelry, with books scattered all over the room including a few religious texts.
"Bingo." I said when I saw the inside of the room.
"I never thought a criminal like Dracos Black would be into religion. I guess we all have our demons." I said as I looked at some really old religious texts about demons and laughed at my little joke. I looked around the room some more and found a thick book entitled 'Black Diary' and grinned. I opened the book and read the first entry, and realized that it was dated back to around three weeks ago, after the apocalypse started. It read:
[Something odd has occured, the sky suddenly became as dark as night dispite being the middle of the day. Could it be an Alien invasion, or those accursed lizard people controlling the weather...]
"Lizard people, aliens, what a dork?.....wait a minute, if demons are real could lizard people and aliens be as well?" I asked myself but shrugged. If aliens and lizard people were real and tried to invade Earth, I could simply kill them.
[.....to weaken us. There was also this strange mist stuff that knocked me out and caused me agonizing pain for a few hours. I have no idea what's going on. I'll stay inside for now and observe what's going on first before trying anything.]
"That's it?" I asked myself as I read the last paragraph of his first entry. Reading it, I realized he didn't discover the system on the first day like me nor did he see any thralls, which means he was in a safe location when this started.
Lucky bastard.
