The silence was starting to feel uncomfortable. Alex peered into the darkness, searching for a hint of malicious intent in the elf's voice, but he found none. Still, instinctively, Alex knew the lousy purpose was there.
This was not the kind of man to be crossed with no plans. He had repeatedly proven that he was dangerous and wanted something from Alex. The young elf just didn't know what it was yet.
"Okay, I'll talk to you," Alex replied, and the other elf smiled in the darkness. Alex couldn't see it, but it was a vile smile.
Alex had no other choice. He needed to learn more about his enemy to understand how he was trafficking information. He couldn't be harassed by gang members inside the dungeon prison or be steered away from the task, which would be disastrous.
Getting closer to Kael'Talar would be the smart move, and Alex was ready to make it.
