"Captain La'har was just telling me for the fifth time that the prison is completely safe, and there's no way for Kael'Talar to traffic information," Ratamir said, walking to three chairs and setting them up for Alex, Rel'Tir, and Ravi to sit.

"And you believe her?" Ravi asked, already falling onto the chair as if tired.

"She's quite persuasive," Bogath said from another corner, and Alex heard something different in his voice, almost admiration.

"I'm just reiterating what I know. I worked there for years, and I know the elves doing the heavy work down there. Everyone's clean."

"That's what they always say before we find the dirty," Ravi retorted, and the elf twitched its stern face.

"I'll not reiterate it again. There's no information trafficking, and if it exists, it's not with the army's help."

"That's even more worrying," Alex said with a sly smile, "a sign that you guys are just... incompetent."
