Chapter 206: Howl slipped head first!
The noise was too rhythmic, too deliberate to be just the wind. It was as if something, or someone, was moving stealthily through the underbrush.
Howl's eyes narrowed, his sharp gaze scanning the surrounding foliage. Zethus paused in his work, his ears perked up, attuned to the peculiar sound.
Even Atasha, despite her worry for Regalus, couldn't ignore the strange disturbance.
"Stay still and don't move," Zethus spoke in a very serious tone, moving back his tail coiling Atasha protectively, and shielding the girl closer to him, behind his back.
Howl had now stood up, ready to pounce and slash whatever it was at any moment.
Not long after, the rustling sound stopped abruptly and was replaced by an eerie silence that seemed to amplify their heartbeats.
