Its stinger, sharp as a halberd, poised in readiness, as if it had identified its prey and was prepared to strike.
Atasha stumbled backward, landing on the damp earth. Despite the protective barrier Seven had erected around her, her body convulsed involuntarily under the creature's predatory gaze.
She gasped, her breath catching in her throat as she beheld the monstrous insect. "Kill it… Kill it now, Howl!" she pleaded, her fingers clutching at the hem of her garment in distress.
"Mother, be calm. Papa Howl is a formidable Beiru," Seven reassured her, stepping into the barrier and wrapping his arms around her. He could see her agitation at encountering such a grotesque creature for the first time. As the insect lunged, a swift movement caught Seven's impassive gaze.
