Chapter 129: Cara's Plight
Atasha's biting sarcasm still reverberated within the confines of the humble hut when Cara abruptly clutched her stomach. Her face drained of color, as she began to weep, her sobs mirroring the relentless rain outside the wooden shed.
"I'm sorry, miss… boohoo! I'm really so… sorry… hic… for being brash and unkind. I have been muddle-headed for a moment but I didn't really mean to sound so rude. I was just desperate. You… you may not forgive me or care about me, but what about this innocent life inside me? Please have mercy…" she implored, her voice choked with sobs.
Hearing this, Atasha froze, her icy facade cracking for the first time. "W-Why are you crying? What are you talking about? Will you stop crying and explain it in something I can understand first?" Atasha blurted out, her voice laced with impatience and a hint of anxiety.
Atasha wondered. Did she just turn deaf due to the rain? Haaa! She must be, right? Right?!
