Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

A few days later...

Cassie POV

Today was the day I would bary my husband, I couldn't believe this was all so real, it didn't feel real to me at all but I knew I had to accept the fact that my husband was decesed, I thought to myself while I dressed for the funeral. Once I was done dressing I checked the time on my watch, it was a quarter till noon. I still had a couple of hours before the funeral so I decided on calling my mom.

Mom: hello baby how are you feeling today? , my mother asked in a concern tone.

Cassie: not to great mother, but I know I have to be strong for me and Nicole you know?

Mom: yes darling I understand, but you also need to take some time and grieve you don't want dedricks death to take a toll on you, plus you have my grandbaby to worry about, speaking of her how is she and have you decided on taking her to the funeral?

Cassie: she's doing OK, and yes I've decided to take her, I know she's to young to understand what's going on but I will explain all of this to her in time.

Mom: OK baby I'm going to finish getting ready I'll meet you at the church,  and remember you need time to grieve, I know you want to be strong but even a strong woman can become weak baby never forget that, I love you Cassie.

Cassie: I know mom,  I know I said as my voice cracked, I love you too mother see you in a bit I said before hanging up the phone.

I made my way to the bathroom to dry my face and refresh my make up before heading to Nicole room to wake her up and get her ready, I knew everything my mother said was true but I couldn't let my baby girl see me weak, I had to prepare her for what was ahead in life, and being strong was the best way.

After the funeral me and a couple of family members made our way back to my house, I wanted to be alone with my child but everyone insisted that I have company so my mind wouldn't be focused on Dedrick but regardless of what they thought nothing could get my mind off of this, I lost my first love, my best friend hell my everything, I know the lifestyle he chose wasn't the greatest but he had to support his family by any means necessary and anyone who knew Dedrick Williams knew that was his motto.

Nicole: mommy mommy!!  Nicole yelled as she entered the living room.

Cassie: yes baby I asked smiling at my daughter who was the spitting image of her father, I took everything in me to hold back the tears that were forming I'm my eyes.

Nicole: Can i have some food I hungry.

Cassie: yes baby go in the kitchen and I'll be right there, I said as I watch my little princess make her way into the kitchen.
