Elise didn't ask anything after that. Since Lucian had already answered, she already accepted it as the truth. Even if both of them knew that it was only the best possible answer for now.
When the show ended, Lucian shut off the television as he casually threw the remote to the side.
"What about the investigation?" After a while, Lucian inquired all of a sudden. His face couldn't be easily read, but the annoyance contained in his eyes was discernible, especially for his closest subordinates like Elise.
Elise lowered her head, and guilt seemed to cloud her.
"I'm sorry, Master. We haven't seen any traces yet." Her voice was weak, ashamed to even utter these words.
