Grace and Carter navigated the narrow ventilation ducts, the silence of the mansion, punctuated only by the distant clanking of the bots, did little to ease Grace's concern.
"I hope the others are okay," Grace whispered, her voice echoing in the confined space.
Carter, his face illuminated by the faint glow of his watch, nodded reassuringly. "I'm sure they're fine. They were part of my team and have held their own in tough situations before."
Grace paused, her brow furrowed. "Yeah, but didn't you say that they left the mafia team? Why do you think they did that?"
"I don't know. I didn't ask."
"Why doesn't that surprise me?" she muttered under her breath.
They continued on, the metal walls of the duct pressing in on them from all sides. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they reached a grate that looked down into a familiar room.
