Although the trainer was busy scribbling away, her sharp ears picked up on the happenings in the room. Having spent sleepless nights caring for both baby Santa and deciphering the formula for the potion, she finally narrowed to four potential ingredients. Yet, she could not figure out the last elusive item. So she scribbled everything she discovered and masked it as an experiment.
"Hey, I think she wants us to do a high cure potion," Sky voiced out with eyes glued to the board.
"Why don't we just make a hot pot, pretend it failed, and drink it for lunch?" Shanson boldly suggested knowing how hungry everyone was.
Saliva drooled down everyone's mouth, and even the high elf paused to wipe off her saliva upon picking up the conversation. The rest of the group thought it was not a bad idea since it was done in the name of education.
"That sounds like a good idea!" Sky said with enthusiasm.
"What is a hot pot?" Meimei asked having had none on Earth before.
"Ya, what is a hot pot?" Gate added envisioning a scalding hot pot with food in it.
At this moment, everyone in the team realised they were of different nationalities and perhaps the idea was not that feasible.
"Focus! Focus! Our main objective is to create the potion," Cori urged directing everyone's attention to the immediate task.
Ignoring Cori, the rest casually chatted about their countries leaving the work to the slightly golden slime.
Although Cori had no phoenix feathers, he wondered if the phoenix knife would have the same effect. "Let me give it a try," he mumbered to himself under his breath. Using the knife, he doubled the ingredients. Using the same knife, he ground the solid essences into one lump of fine green paste and dumped it into the glass cauldron. Interestingly, the herbs started to look fresh and tender, unlike the frailed dried-up version they started with.
"It's interesting how that one lump of paste seemed to be more than what we started with," Shanson said touching his nonexistent chin.
He cut the poured water from the vial as it fell into the cauldron using his knife. The cauldron speedily became half-filled. Cori was amazed that so much water came from such a tiny vial. The concoction bubbled and boiled, giving off a savoury smell.
"Mmmmm it smells so good," Shanson commented with dripping saliva distracted by the aroma.
"I don't think it's working...," Meimei commented after a glance, noticing the potion had no aura. "The potion looked less like a potion and more like a soup," she added.
"Maybe it just needs a bit of other ingredients...," Sky suggested. Shanson nodded and wondered if he should add other materials to the soup.
"Maybe the phoenix knife is also designed to cut anything and transform them into cooking ingredients...," Cori lost in his thoughts, rationalising the savoury smelling 'potion'.
Gate was busy noting down everything her trainer wrote, while the rest discussed the type of meat to throw into the cauldron.
Having the discussion unconcluded, Sky became increasingly annoyed and volunteered for a taste test. He held the ladle with his tiny blue tentacle and reached for the potion.
"No!" Meimei shouted and attempted to slap the ladle away from him.
Despite Shanson utilising his raw strength, he failed to wrestle the utensil from the determined and strong-willed slime. "How are you so strong! Uf!" Shanson complained. Upon hearing the commotion, Cori looked in horror as the system announced the effect of the soup the very moment Sky gulped it down.
The liquid in the cauldron toiled and bubbled turning into various shades of blue and purple and emanating a smell of fresh warm towels. An anxious teardrop landed into the soup changing it into a stabilising gold liquid.
"What just happened?" Sky asked after blacking out for a quick second. But before Cori could explain to him, multitudes of tiny gelatinous Corgis the size of a thumb started to climb out of the cauldron flooding their table. The group tried to huddled and contain the animals but the cauldron just would not stop conjuring golden Corgis.
"What are these?" Gate asked pointing to the Corgi wagging its tail at her. "Sky utilised a bit of his soul to create living beings and...," Cori tried to explain but was too embarrassed to tell them a bit of his tears dropped into the soup giving form to these creatures.
"Help...," Meimei whispered a cry as numerous Corgis humped on her. Cori silently cried and more tears went into the cauldron. The little commotion grabbed the class's attention and more slimes gathered around them.
The cauldron wouldn't stop producing the miniature puppies and the whole class was excited to see the adorable creatures. "What is this animal?" some asked. "Wow, how did you guys do it?" another questioned. With more and more slimes pushing and shoving to see the Corgis, a mysterious hand accidentally knocked over the cauldron invoking even more miniature Corgis.
Even Ivy Bind raised her brows. Ivy went to their table and was surprised to find a tiny Corgis barking in falsettos. "Dear me, how did you end up with conjuring these tiny adorables?" she asked with a contained smile. A tiny corgi started licking her hand.
"If you let me know the ingredients, perhaps I can reverse the effects," she said encouragingly. With a wave of her fingertips, she managed to paralyse the puppies. "Now, tell me what happened," she asked, her pupils dilated.
The group all looked at Cori and Sky. "Betrayers!" Sky silently looked at them with squinted eyes. "Dear Ivy, we accidentally created a multitude-conjuring potion," Cori answered. "A piece of Sky's soul is embued in all of them and I dropped a sweat into the cauldron by accident which gives them a physical body."
The class gathered, listening intently behind the trainer while some attempted to collect the Corgis.
