Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

Jessica's perspective

I'm a little bit nervous as I walk towards my classroom. The hallway is empty, indicating that they're already in class. Back when I was in high school, it was never hard for me to go to school, but right now, in this new world, of course, I'm nervous as hell.

I arrived in front of the classroom door. There's no window, only a large door in front of me. I hear a loud voice inside the class. The voice comes from the teacher who is demonstrating how to utilize magic. Some students are asking questions, like how it works, why they can't use more magic, and so on.

Taking a breath while tightening my fist, I step forward and knock on the door, causing the chatter inside the class to stop. I hear footsteps approaching the door. It opens, revealing the appearance of the teacher—a slightly older woman. She is wearing a dark green robe that reaches her feet, with a light green scarf around her neck. Her eyes are brown, and she has a monocle over her right eye. Her white hair is styled in a bun.

The old woman looks me up and down with a serious face, "I heard from Mister Boful that there is a new student about to arrive here. Are you the new student?" she says, making me nervous but I manage to compose myself.

I nod, "Yeah, that's me..." I reply, making the teacher chuckle and look at me with a smile on her face.

"Not bad, your appearance is very appealing to me. I guess Mister Boful was speaking the truth," she says as she gestures with her hand for me to come inside.

As I enter the classroom, I can clearly hear everyone in the class expressing surprise. I look at each student, and they seem stunned to see me. "Alright, this is very uncomfortable," I think to myself.

This class is like an auditorium, but not as big as the university auditorium back where I attended college. The total number of students here is only 75. I stop walking and stand in front of them, and the teacher stands alongside me.

"Class, meet your new student, Jessica Ken," she introduces me to her students. Then the teacher looks at me and says, "Now, Jessica, tell me why you enrolled in this school?" Every student leans forward to hear about me. I sigh and get ready to tell them why.

Meanwhile...

In the middle of the large forest, a green portal opens, and Max exits the portal. The giant wolf looks around excitedly, sniffing a little at his surroundings before walking around. All the trees are larger than Max, making it hard to see what's coming. He relies on his nose and instinct.

The birds chirp everywhere, elk notice Max before running away from him, the sound of sticks crunching beneath his paws. He really likes this and is enjoying the moment. It's been a while for him to relax in this scenery, and it's very quiet. Max takes a deep breath and lets it out.

He doesn't realize that he has already emerged from the dense forest. Max widens his eyes and smiles happily as he sees a grassy field, running around like in his old days with his best friend Mitch. He stops and lies down immediately, rolling around in the grass while enjoying watching the sky.

Then something he remembered a long time ago, a vision from his past. Max stops what he's doing and stands up; his heart beats faster because he recalls something special from his distant memories. The vision is of when he was a puppy, and beside him, a black kitten—his first-ever friend before Mitch.

Then his vision was gone. Immediately, he put his paw on his head because it hurt to remember dearly of his cat friend, and he doesn't want to remember it because the pain... Never goes away.

He looked at the sky and sighed, wishing his memory would forget his past. Max decided to go home and take some rest or maybe request food. Immediately, he casually opened the portal and went through it before the portal closed itself. Unbeknownst to Max, a large creature was stalking him before vanishing into the dense forest.

Once he returned home, Max immediately regretted it and didn't want to face Maya, who was already in front of him. She folded her arms, and her face was very angry. "Do you think I didn't notice you were gone a couple of hours ago? You're a really bad boy," she said as Maya walked towards Max, making him nervous. So Max resorted to the old-fashioned way, lowering his body and making puppy eyes at her.

Maya stopped and sighed, "No, I'm not mad at you, Max. Just want to make sure you're okay, and please don't do that, okay?" Max perked up, indicating he was happy, making Maya chuckle at her wolf's behavior. She patted Max's snout and told him what the wolf liked to hear, "I'm sure you're hungry, so Joseph made a large roasted chicken just for you." Max jumped up and down excitedly, and Maya smiled at her wolf before they went inside to lunch.

Back to Jessica perspective

After several hours in the class and getting used to it, all the students are really friendly for now. It was break time, and I was about to go to the canteen for lunch when two girls walked towards me.

"Hey Jessica, do you want to have lunch together?" She said in a lower voice that I barely heard. Not gonna lie, she looks cute because she's a cat woman, and beside her is her friend with blonde hair. I noticed that her ears are really long, meaning she's an elf with a calm expression.

I nodded and replied excitedly, "Sure, why not!"

As we walked together towards the canteen, both of them introduced themselves, "My name is Cecilia Greham, and this is my best friend, Nora Rieren." So, the catwoman's name is Cecilia, and the elf woman's name is Nora.

"I heard that you're from Outworld because your mana is different than ours," Nora said with a smile on her face, to which I nodded.

"Yeah, but you need to be careful because of the nobles. They're very dangerous and active hunt when it comes to Outworld mana being stronger than ours," Cecilia said with concern for me.

I shook my head, "You don't have to worry about me; I got this," I reassured them, which made them smile. Soon, we arrived at the canteen, and I immediately went to buy some food along with my friends.

We then sat at a canteen table, enjoying our lunch and having the best conversation. What I learned about them is very interesting. Cecilia was born at demi-human village and live with her mother only, she is very hardworking and wants to become a sorcerer, something that she wants to make her mother proud. Nora was born into royalty in the Elven kingdom; she is a prodigy and always gets a perfect score without a single mistake. I wish I could be as smart as her.

We were having the best moment until the lunch break was over. My friends and I got up from our seats and went to our class. As we walked through the hall while chatting, suddenly a man with blue hair ran towards me and accidentally hit each other, making both of us fall to the ground. I winced in pain at my forehead as Cecilia helped me stand up; it really hurt, though.

I looked at the man angrily and annoyed, "Hey, watch where you're going!?" The man immediately bowed his head, touching the floor, which shocked me.

"I am terribly sorry! I was in a hurry to get to the training area before the teacher scolded me. I'm so sorry!" The blue-haired man apologized. I sighed while rubbing my temple to calm my nerves, and I glanced back at him, still bowing his head on the floor. It was kind of embarrassing; everyone was watching us strangely!

"Jeez, alright, alright, get up already. You should go before your teacher gets mad at you." I helped him stand up, to which he seemed surprised, not wanting to start a commotion over what happened.

"But what abo–" I cut off his sentence before he could finish it.

"I forgive you. Now go on already!" I said in irritation, to which he nodded and started running. Then I looked at my friends, "Who is that guy anyway?"

"Oh, him. His name is Elmond Dunkirk, famously known as a man who lose everything," Nora answered as she chuckled.

"I'm sorry, did you just say that he lost everything, like for real!?" I'm confused; why do people call him that?

Cecilia sighs and explains to me, "Well, to put it simply, every exam, every fight, yet he still loses everything even though he works so hard; it still doesn't pay off."

I don't know why, but I feel so bad for him. Maybe one day I'll talk to him if he has time. We then enter our classroom and take our seats before the teacher enters.

Evening...

After finishing our class and getting ready to head home, Nora and Cecilia went their separate ways as we said goodbye to each other. I exited the building, and then I remembered my younger brother saying that we would meet at the front gate. Nothing bad usually happens for now; just mind my own business.

Once I reached the main gate, I saw students gathering outside, although it's probably not worth it to see what's going on. Until I heard Harold grunting from the crowd, and there must be a fight commotion, which made me worried. Before I could intervene and stop what they're doing, Harold was thrown out from the crowd.

I helped my brother stand up; he looked beaten up, with his nose bleeding, mouth cut, and his school uniform damaged. I glanced at the crowd—all boys. Once they saw me, they made flirtatious remarks, which disgusted me.

One of them said, "Well, would you look at that, she's a fine lady," and the group of boys burst into laughter.

I looked at Harold, who was visibly angry. "STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MY SISTER!!!" Harold shouted, clenching his fists, but the crowd only laughed at him.

"Oh, what are you gonna do about it, punch us? Hahaha!" the boy mocked Harold, and I couldn't stand it.

I was ready to punch the 16-year-old boy in the face when suddenly Mitch appeared and delivered a flying kick to his face instead. This surprised the crowd, and Mitch stood up from the ground, dusting himself off.

Mitch perspective before the fight

Another day, another miserable day for me. Seriously, why the hell does this world have math? Shouldn't that cursed subject not exist in this world? Man, I hate math; it reduces my brain IQ. I sighed in frustration, then I saw Jessica and Harold at the main gate. I was about to join them when I noticed a crowd outside the gate. Something tells me they are just losers picking a fight with weaker students.

Without hesitation, I ran at full speed and delivered a flying kick to the teen boy's face, sending him flying backward and knocking him out. I stood up, dusting myself off as the teenage group looked on in surprise. Their reactions suggested that I had kicked the leader in the face.

Some of them rushed to help their leader, while others assumed battle stances. I smirked, saying, "Do you think I'll let you guys bully my brother? Think again!"

Three boys rushed at me, attempting to throw punches. Thanks to my mother's hellish training, I easily dodged their attacks, predicting their movements effortlessly.

Evading each of their strikes, I grabbed the third student and delivered punches to his face until he fell unconscious. The first student attempted to punch me, but I responded with a headbutt, knocking him out. The second student stepped back, preparing to chant a spell. Determined not to let him, I dashed forward, executing a jump-knee to his face, rendering him unconscious.

The teenage boys rushed to assist their unconscious comrades, while others prepared to attack me. The situation was growing more intense, and I was ready to engage with them when someone grabbed my shoulder from behind. Reacting swiftly, I turned and punched the person in the face, but my joy turned to regret in an instant.

The group of teenage boys had gone pale, and they hastily retreated. I found myself equally stunned. Standing in front of me was my mother, lifting her left hand and delivering a straight punch to my face, causing me to black out.

Yup... I deserve that
