Chapter 5 - chapter 5

By the time Eleena brought Xi Wei back to Kennington Village, there weren't many people left in the village.

Even the few that were still alive were merely satisfying its feline instinct to toy with its prey.

Right now, it was just repeating the process of letting those people escape, and then bringing them back with its mouth. When those people were played until they were crippled or he was tired of playing with them, he could swallow them in one gulp!

Suddenly, the Dragonfang raised its head and stared at the entrance of the village.

It could smell the scent of new prey, but at the same time, it could feel the faint sense of danger coming from this new prey.

"Mister Xi Wei …" Eleena clutched at the hem of Xi Wei's shirt, her voice trembling.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine." Xi Wei patted the girl's head.

He was shocked when he saw the Dragonfang. After all, there weren't any ferocious-looking beasts on Earth.

However, he quickly relaxed. The Dragonfang didn't have any magic, and while it seemed to have a certain level of intelligence, it couldn't even be considered a magical beast.

To Xi Wei, an enemy of this level wouldn't be a problem even if there were a hundred of them.

The Dragonfang probably felt that it was being looked down upon by its' prey ', and with an angry roar, it pounced towards Xi Wei.

Xi Wei only felt a gust of wind blowing towards him. He snorted coldly, and without even moving his body, the Dragonfang was sent flying.

More than half of the monster's bone armor was shattered, and even the sharp bone spikes on its tail were broken. Like a dog with a broken leg, it limped and howled in pain.

Even Eleena, who was hiding behind Xi Wei, was stunned by the scene before her.

Even though she had a feeling that this man wasn't weak and would definitely be able to deal with the Dragonfang, she didn't expect him to be so strong that he could defeat the monster without even lifting a finger.

It wasn't hard to understand why the Dragonfang ended up like this.

If he spat at the sky, it would only end up landing on his own face. Even if he was at the bottom of the hierarchy of deities, he was still a god. The moment the Dragonfang attacked him, he had already triggered the divine retribution of one of the three elements of a deity, 'Divine Might', and directly reflected the Dragonfang's attack back at him.

The gods were not invincible, but if one wanted to challenge the gods, one had to at least become a Legendary powerhouse who was not bound by the laws. Otherwise, no matter how many people there were in the mortal world, they would not be a match for the gods.

"Mister Xi Wei, it's escaping!" Eleena watched as the Dragonfang limped away from the village, panicking as she tugged at Xi Wei's clothes. Having grown up in the village, she knew that many of the wild beasts in the mountains were very vengeful. If she didn't manage to kill it this time, it would definitely come back for revenge after Xi Wei left.

"Eleena, this is as far as I can go." Xi Wei shook his head and looked at Eleena. "Do you want to take revenge with your own hands?"

"I-I can't beat it yet …" Eleena's eyes lit up, but she quickly shook her head.

Even though the Dragonfang was at the end of its tether, it was not something a little girl could deal with.

Xi Wei nodded slightly — he would be disappointed if Eleena was too cowardly to avenge the villagers, or if she was blinded by vengeance and picked up a stick to beat a drowning dog.

Even in the face of such a tragedy, Eleena was still able to think calmly. For a little girl who grew up in the village, her mental fortitude was quite good.

"Then what if the God of Games could give you the power to defeat your enemies?" Xi Wei asked patiently.

The girl was silent for a moment, then looked up at Xi Wei. "Then Eleena is willing to become a believer of the God of Games!"

"Faith isn't something you can say with your mouth. Close your eyes and say the name of the God of Games, then feel it with your heart," Xi Wei said seriously.

If he were on Earth, his behavior would probably make everyone think that there was something wrong with his brain. But in this world, he truly gave off an unfathomable vibe.

Eleena closed her eyes and said the name of the God of Games — in her darkest hour, the god she once believed in did not show her any mercy. It was Xi Wei who gave her salvation, giving her hope once again. So in this moment, Eleena just as Xi Wei said, she offered her most sincere faith.

"Say in your heart, 'Game, grant us new life'." Xi Wei's voice rang out at the perfect moment.

"Game, grant us new life." Eleena said piously.

The next moment, Xi Wei felt the pure and vigorous power of faith rising from the girl's body.

'Now!'

Xi Wei shouted excitedly in his heart. Following the steps he had planned countless times, he used his divine power to create the 'System' through the channel of faith between him and the girl, projecting it into the girl's consciousness.

'Success or failure depends on this!'

Leaving Xi Wei's side aside, the girl suddenly saw a strange page appear in the darkness before her.

[Player: Eleena]

[Class: Saintess-in-training]

[Level: 1]

[EXP: 0/100]

[HP: 50/50]

[Magic Power: 30/30]

[Attributes: 1 Strength, 1 Agility, 2 Spirit]

[Skill Points: 1]

Eleena opened her eyes in shock, but the page in front of her did not disappear. It seemed that it was not an illusion.

"This is..." she murmured in bewilderment.

"This is a gift from the God of Games to his believers. As long as you still believe in the God of Games, it will not disappear." Xi Wei smiled and explained, "Add a skill, and then try to kill that Dragonfang yourself."

The girl stared at Xi Wei blankly. After a while, she came back to her senses and nodded vigorously. Then, she blushed and stammered, "Skill … What is a skill … How do I add it?"

"Skills are the divine arts that the God of Games has bestowed upon you." Xi Wei did not expect the girl to be stuck at this point either. He did not know whether to laugh or cry as he explained to her, "Open the skill tree page, and then spend your skill points to buy a lit up skill. The greyed out skills are not high enough in level or attributes, so there's no way to learn them. "

"How magical …" The girl fumbled with the system page, muttering to herself from time to time.

As a child who grew up in a mountain village, although Eleena had learned Shamanic from her father for a while, she did not know much about the language.

Even so, she could still understand all the instructions on the system page. This was because the system page was created by Xi Wei using the divine language, and essentially had a function similar to language proficiency. No matter what race they were, whether they were Shamanic or not, they would be able to understand all the words on the system page.

Seeing that the Dragonfang was about to escape the village, the girl immediately chose to learn the attack skill 'Spear of Victory' that could be learned by a Saintess at Lvl 1. She turned her confident energy into a golden spear and pierced through the Dragonfang's body, pinning the evil beast to the ground.

The heavily injured Dragonfang twitched for a moment, then breathed its last breath and died.

Only then did Eleena breathe a sigh of relief.

She then saw the Dragonfang's body emit a golden light, and the huge carcass disappeared, leaving behind only a broken tail bone, sharp canine teeth, and claws.

"What's going on?" The girl asked in shock.

"Enemies killed by the God of Games' Sacred Arts will be sacrificed to the God, but some materials will be left behind. Occasionally, there will be rewards (in other words, equipment drops), and the rewards depend on the strength of the enemy you sacrifice," Xi Wei explained. "After that, the God of Games will grant you 'Experience Points' based on what you sacrifice. Once your Experience Points are full, you can level up, learn new skills, and gain more power."

In fact, the essence of Experience Points was Divine Energy: after Xi Wei received the sacrifice of his believers, he would split the Divine Energy he received into two. Seventy percent would be kept in his Divine Kingdom, and the remaining thirty percent would be given to the sacrifice in the form of 'Divine Grace' through the Path of Faith. After accumulating to a certain level, the Divine Energy would be converted into power that humans could use under Xi Wei's guidance, and that was the so-called 'leveling up' process.
