Axiang had heard from the simpleton about the play being staged in the grain-drying ground and that it was organized by Xia Dabao.
Xia Dabao notified every household except hers, leaving her feeling a bit disappointed.
Later, the simpleton came over to call her. "Sister, are you coming to watch the play?"
The simpleton had been lonely since childhood, so naturally he went wherever it was lively, especially to watch plays, though sometimes he didn't quite understand them. Mostly, he just sat on a stool, staring intently at the stage, but he still enjoyed it.
Axiang shook her head. "No, simpleton, there are too many people over there. You can go by yourself, I'll just stay at home."
The simpleton then hesitated. Axiang smiled, "Go on, simpleton. I'm mainly afraid of running into my mom and being dragged back home again by her. You wouldn't want me to have to go back, would you?"
The simpleton shook his head, yet unsure whether to go or not.
