Shagen nodded, and Axiang smiled, "Do you understand? Then can you repeat exactly what I said?"
Shagen was not a man of many words even on a normal day, and his ability to express himself was lacking; although he felt some understanding, it was impossible for him to repeat Axiang's words.
So all he could do was smile and then continued to pick another piece of egg for Axiang's bowl.
Axiang laughed and said, "Never mind, being able to share my thoughts with you is enough, it makes me happy just to have someone listen, and I feel much better now."
After hearing this, Shagen smiled happily.
...
The rain had been pouring down all day, only stopping when dusk fell.
Axiang's clothes had been dried by the firewood Shagen had burned, so she changed back into the dry clothes.
The clothes, still warm from the heat of the fire, made her feel cozy, and thus her mood improved.
She began to say goodbye to Shagen, who was still in the kitchen, seemingly preparing dinner.
