Along the way, Long San and Lu Jianxi supported each other continuously. Long Aixi knew that his father had suffered from cold illnesses in the past, and although he had largely recovered over the years, his constitution was not very stable, so their pace was slow.
Thus, Long Aixi took special care of Long San throughout the journey, serving him water and tea without a second thought.
Lu Jianxi, feeling pity for his son, several times offered to let Long Aixi ride in the horse carriage, but Long Aixi consistently declined, saying that at his young age, being out in the sun was healthier.
Lu Jianxi couldn't help but find it amusing. She leaned against the carriage and asked Long Aixi, "Didn't you used to be afraid of getting too tan, saying it didn't look good to be too dark?"
"Mother, it's better for a man to be a bit darker, not too pale," Long Aixi replied, then asked Lu Jianxi, "Mother, am I fat?"
