But after giving the instructions, she recalled that baking potatoes was Zhao Datu's favorite. She had made it a habit to bake a couple for him every time she started a fire to cook, not realizing that it had become a routine over the months.
Shaogen was obedient as well, doing whatever Axiang said. After throwing the potatoes in, he ran back out to sit next to Axiang and watched her mend his clothes.
"I can't really be of any help to you now that I'm here, I can only mend your clothes. It's always harder for a man to learn these things. You still need a woman to sew for you," Axiang said.
Shaogen didn't respond, just quietly watched Axiang sew.
Seeing Shaogen just sitting quietly beside her, Axiang treated him as someone to confide in: "Actually, it's quite nice to be like you, carefree and able to take care of yourself. I can't do it. With so many things to take care of at home, I don't know when I'll be able to break free from these days."
