While walking toward the study room and chatting, Qin Yin's phone suddenly rang. She saw Liu Ruoju's name flashing on the screen and quickly picked up. "Ruoju?" she said.
"Yinyin, did you call me?" Liu Ruoju stated right off the bat, "I was away when you called. A friend of mine picked up the phone and accidentally dropped it, cutting us off."
Qin Yin didn't believe her, convinced that explanations were a form of concealment.
"Which friend was that?" she asked.
"Err, a fellow townsperson who you don't know. He's visiting Jiang City from our hometown," Liu Ruoju stuttered.
"Then let's all have a meal together sometime. If he's a friend of yours, I should consider him my friend too. We should extend some hospitality."
"No need. He...he is leaving tomorrow."
"We could have afternoon tea together."
"Really, there's no need."
Liu Ruoju felt a bit flustered. Qin Yin was always sharp, she must've sensed with whom she was.
