The boss of Pinghai was beside himself with anxiety, incessantly questioning in a stern voice, "What exactly are you all doing? An incident like this happened in the hotel, and you were completely in the dark? None of you noticed anything about that woman?"
One of the staff members spoke timidly, "I did see her sitting with a slightly older man earlier on, but they didn't order anything to eat. I was going to bring them a menu, but then I saw someone had already served them water. So, I assumed someone had already attended to them, and I left them alone."
"Who was serving them then? Who brought them the water?" Pinghai's boss asked grimly. But everyone kept shifting their gazes, evading responsibility. None dared to step forward.
"No one? How peculiar. Are all of Pinghai's staff present?" Pinghai's boss asked again.
"They are." The lobby manager stated timidly.
Truly panic-stricken, the boss feared this would spell the end of his over twenty years of Pinghai.
