Emma was genuinely surprised to see Alex at her door. They hadn't spoken much in the last few days, each focused on their own lives. The only interactions they had were brief encounters in the hallway or at the gym.
"Of course. Come in," Emma said, gesturing for Alex to enter. She was dressed in pajamas, clearly ready to head to bed.
"I'm sorry to bother you this late," Alex apologized. "After a long day of playing, you're probably getting ready to sleep soon."
Emma chuckled and grabbed a bottle of wine, pouring two glasses. "It's okay. Knowing you, it must be important if you're coming here this late, right?" she remarked, handing him a glass.
