Chapter 35 - 35.An Overwhelming Discovery

AN OVERWHELMING DISCOVERY.

R: Marcus.

L: Zeke, Matt, Alfred, Sylvia.

~

Narration: Marcus sat down with his eyes fixed against a magazine. unperturbed by everything that Sylvia had said while Zeke and Matt were looking at him bewildered.

Zeke: Are you in your right mind? Or are you unbothered by what she had just said?

Marcus: I thought my reaction would have made it clear that I don't care. Besides I can always get a new Personal Assistant.

Matt: Zeke, I think you should cool it out. If Marcus is willing to let her out of his life, then he must have some really good reason.

Zeke: He better do because I want to hear it.

Marcus: What is up with you by the way? What I do with my staff happens to be no concern of yours and here you are behaving like a baby who just had his toy taken from him.

Zeke: Watch it Marcus, you may be a four generation old vampire but as a vampire half your age, I am pretty sure that I will a pretty good opponent.

Narration: Marcus raised his eyes from the magazine and fixed it on Zeke. There was a quick fluster of wind and he had Zeke pinned to the wall by his throat.

Marcus: Wrong, I am a four generation old Tribrid and don't you forget that.

Matt: Wait a minute, you are the Last Hybrid that was killed four thousand years ago?

Zeke: I won't when you give a perfect explanation for your actions.

Narration: In a swift second, Zeke threw Marcus across the room slamming him into a wall.

Zeke: I was seeing the impact she was having on you before and how you were becoming humane. What changed?

Marcus: Fine since you are persistent on knowing, I will tell you why I want her to leave but I just hope that it won't make you to overreact more than I have.

Zeke: I will happily like to hear it.

Narration: Marcus walked up to a couch and sank into it. He poured out himself a glass of whiskey that was on the bedside table.

Marcus: Few days ago, you came to my office to know about the curse that I wanted to break…

Zeke: And you said that four thousand years ago, you were curse by a white witch who had placed a curse on you suppressing your witch and werewolf genes…tell me something I don't know.

Matt: Wait, I thought the last white witch died killing the hybrid.

Marcus: Oh, the white witch died alright casting a spell that strong to hold my genes but couldn't kill me. Now the perks to the spell is that it can only be broken by me finding my mate…something that I have tried to find for four generations to no avail.

Zeke: Okay, but I don't see how it relates to being cold to Sylvia.

Marcus: I went to meet Freya days ago and she said that she felt a glitch in my aura, one that can only be caused by the presence by the only force stronger than mine; a white witch. I brought her here yesterday and after she had shaken Sylvia's hand, she discovered that Sylvia was the direct descendant of the last witch; the same person who cursed me.

Matt: Can you guys please stop ignoring me. Besides, if that is why Marcus is cold towards her, it's reason enough.

Zeke: Matt, you are just a six hundred and fifty-six years old vampire, you don't know reason. Marcus, does she know that she is a witch?

Marcus: No, if not she could have realized that Freya was a witch and prevented the hand contact.

Zeke: So you are angry at someone for what she is and the person in question doesn't even know what she is, now how stupid do you sound?

Matt: He has a point Marcus; it does sound pretty stupid.

Marcus: You shut up, you do not know reason.

Matt: you too? What is wrong with two of you?

Marcus: And Zeke, I was the one cursed and not you, so how I act is none of your business.

Zeke: So after sacking her, what will be you next action towards her? after all you know what she is and you know that she is more powerful than you so will go hunting her down to death?

Marcus: Don't you tempt me.

Narration: As they were talking, Sylvia walked in dragging a box behind her while Alfred and another manservant were holding her bags.

Marcus: I remember you quitting, why are my men helping you to carry your luggage?

Alfred: Sir, it was a voluntary action, we volunteered to help her.

Marcus: Alfred drop the bag and walk away, the same with you, boy before I sack you too.

Narration: The men did as they were told but Sylvia looked at Marcus and merely smiled at him with a clear expression of hate plastered on her face.

Zeke: Com'on Sylvia, let me help you.

Narration: Zeke picked up the two bags like they were nothing and walked with Sylvia towards the front door. Marcus watched as Sylvia reached out to the front door to open it then something inside him cracked.

Marcus: Stop right there!

Sylvia: I don't work for you anymore Mr. Silverdore so I don't see a reason to stop.

Marcus: Please, I said you should stop.

Narration: Matt and Zeke looked at Marcus as if he had blown a fuse in his head. He walked up to her and raised his hand to her face in an attempt to stroke her hair but she moved away from his hand.

Marcus: I don't remember saying that you were free to retire or quit besides in a normal company, you are meant to type your quitting letter and I am meant to approve so no, I don't approve your quitting.

Sylvia: Is this some kind of reverse psychology?

Marcus: No, I mean, I am not ready for you to leave. I know I was cruel towards you for no reason for the past week but I didn't mean any of it. Besides, I am sorry.

Sylvia: Wow, are you bipolar or something? You really meant everything and I am not stupid. I won't stay here another day to be treated like trash.

Marcus: I am sorry, maybe I took things to far but I am sorry, can't you reconsider and stay?

Sylvia: Sorry too, but I am pretty sure that I am beyond reconsidering anything.

Marcus: Even if I go down on my knees to beg you?

Sylvia, Zeke & Matt: What!!!

Sylvia: Seriously, Marcus do you take me for a fool?

Marcus: No and I mean it.

Narration: The trio watched as Marcus began to drop onto his left knee slowly. Before the knee could make contact with the ground, Sylvia held him.

Sylvia: I am pretty sure that I will regret staying but I am sure I will regret it more if I see you kneeling before me. I will stay.

Marcus: Phew, thank God you did, I don't think I would have ever outlived it if it ever happened.

Sylvia: I guess I will have to take my stuff back to my room then.

Alfred: Let us help you with that.

Narration: Alfred and a manservant help her carry her boxes back upstairs to her room.

Marcus: What just happened? One minute I want her gone, the next I can't see my life without her.

Narration: Marcus said turning to Zeke and Matt who had smiles plastered on their faces.

Matt: Wow Marcus, congratulations. But then again, this is a cruel twist of fate.

Marcus: What is that supposed to mean?

Zeke: You just found your mate
