R: Sylvia
L: Dad, Gramps, Ethan, Gran.
Narration: The cab drops Sylvia in front of a duplex, she opens the door and walk into a living room filled with her dad, gramps, gran and her brother Ethan. The television was on and a TV series was playing.
Sylvia: Hello everyone.
Narration: Sylvia greeted as she walked into their midst then her father turns to her.
Dad: Hey pumpkins, just in time. The game is about to start.
Gramps: Oh, let her be. Silver, your food is in the kitchen.
Sylvia: Guys please enough with the nicknames. I am twenty-five and not six.
Ethan: At least Gramps calls you silver; not like me he keeps on calling Et.
Narration: Sylvia watches her family as she ate; her grandparents are retired and her dad is a top-notch engineer while her brother is an artist. She had just graduated and was offered a job at Marc's Science and Tech.
Narration: Sylvia finishes off her food and drops her empty plate in the sink then she walks past the living room heading for the stairs.
Ethan: Hold on, ain't you meant to do the dishes?
Sylvia: Well, no. I thought you are doing it since I have a big day tomorrow and want to be up early.
Ethan: And what does that have to do with doing your chores? I also have a big day tomorrow. I won a contract to make logos for seven industries and I will have to be up early but I don't see myself running off to bed for an early sleep.
Gran: Alright kids, stop it. I will do the dishes. Sylvia you better start heading up for your room. You won't want to be weak for tomorrow.
Sylvia: Thanks Gran.
Narration: Sylvia begins to walk up the stair but then stop and go back to the living room.
Sylvia: Shouldn't Ethan be coming with me?
Ethan: What does going to bed early have to do with me now?
Sylvia: Well, dad always says that when we have a job for the next day, we have to go to bed early.
Ethan: I know the rules but I don't see how it relates to me.
Sylvia: Well, didn't you just say that you have a contract tomorrow and that you would have to be up early?
Gramps: She is right son; you have to head to bed. Those are the rules and unless you have your apartment, you would have to go to bed now.
Dad: Don't worry, I will tell you about the game when you return from work tomorrow.
Ethan: For Christ sakes, I am twenty-eight. Don't you think I can make that decision for myself?
Gramps: You may be twenty-eight but you are under this roof. So either find your own place to stay or live by the rules. Besides, if you watch the game till the end, there is no guarantee that you would meet with the contracts and you may lose it.
Narration: Ethan looks at Sylvia who bolted up the stairs. She runs into her room slamming the door shut then she walks up to her bed and sit on it. She reaches out to a novel that was open faced down on the bed, folds a page and then drop it on the bedside table.
Narration: Sylvia stretches herself on her bed looking up to the ceiling in thought. Tomorrow was going to be her big day and she does not want anything to ruin it. She closes her eyes and slowly drifts off.
Sylvia: Hello! Anybody here?
Narration: Sylvia finds herself back at that same alley where she had met Marcus earlier that night. She looks around a bit confused. Everywhere was clouded in fog and her eyesight was hazy. She walks out of the alley out into the road and notices a figure standing in the distance.
Sylvia: Hello! Excuse me, do I know you?
Sylvia: Stop it, what do you want from me?
Narration: The winds intensify and carries Sylvia flinging her into the darkness.
Narration: Sylvia was lying on the bed writhing around drenched in sweat. She opened her mouth but no sound came out. Suddenly she jerked up in a scream.
Narration: The bedroom door flung open and her brother ran inside alongside her father and grandmother. He held her hand while her father threw his hands around her shoulder.
Ethan: Sis, are you okay?
Dad: Hey, it is okay. It was just a dream. You will be alright.
Gran: Alright, let her go. Come here sweetie, let's get you some milk to drink.
Narration: Gran led Sylvia downstairs into the kitchen. Sylvia sat down on a side stool while her granny poured her some milk.
Sylvia: It was weird.
Gran: What?
Sylvia: The dream. It was like someone was reaching out to me from far away.
Narration: Gran's face tenses as she placed the glass of milk in front of Sylvia. She sits opposite Sylvia and grabs her left hand.
Gran: So, I want you to tell me what the dream was about…I heard it will help get it off your back.
Sylvia: okay, something happened to me last night in an alley…
Gran: Oh my god, where you mugged?
Sylvia: No, I had the strangest meeting with a man who was as rude as hell. In the dream, I was in the same alley where the man had left me. There was fog everywhere and, in the distance, I can swear I saw a woman standing in the midst of the fog.
Gran: Are you sure it was a woman?
Sylvia: Yes, she approached me and started moving her lips but I didn't hear what she was saying…I was hearing but I could not make out the words. Then it was as if she had summoned a wind that swept me off my feet and I woke up.
Gran: Are you sure that that is all that happened in the dream?
Sylvia: Yeah, it was a very short dream…I am pretty sure that I haven't slept for long before the dream like maximum thirty minutes. I will be going back to bed.
Gran: What are you talking about, when you screamed, we were having the morning prayer. You slept the entire night.
Sylvia: Wait, what?
Gran: If I were you, I would go take a shower. Today is your big day.
Narration: Sylvia frowned and stood up. She drops the glass at the sink.
Sylvia: Great and I didn't get any sleep, thanks to my timeless dream.
Narration: She stomps her feet and walk out of the kitchen angrily.
