Chereads / The Ruler's Quest: Hard Awakening / Chapter 2 - Let's Go Home

Chapter 2 - Let's Go Home

"Huh? You're still awake? That was a level 3 grade 5 magic you know. You're pretty strong for a muscle hea--"

"B A A M"

Jin gets launched in midair and only after getting launched in midair he noticed he was thrown by Yokoha.

What's happening? How can he be this fast after taking so much damage? No, He's faster now than ever, but how?

Yokoha gets on top of him before he can figure out what to do and slams it into the ground.

B O O O M

The field shatters into pieces around Jin's body after contact. Jin bleeds out from his head and mouth

Ahh, that hurt. What's with this guy? How's he this strong? I think I broke my backbone, ohhh it hurts. Hurts a lot.

"You're pretty weak for someone who announced himself as a god. I didn't even need to use manipulation on you. How pathetic." Yokoha says with a smirk on his face after landing on the ground.

"Don't you ever think this is over, I guess I really have to go at it. This is such a pain!" Jin replies.

Jin stands up, blood dripping from his head and yet he seems completely fine. As if he wasn't just slammed into the ground a moment ago.

Jin starts to chant a spell while Yokoha just stands there seemingly confident that injured Jin couldn't muster anything significant enough to hurt him.

"With my vision I summon the holy spears of heaven that torn up hell to shreds. Tear apart my opponent the same way. Heavenly Spears of Purity."

A massive golden colored portal the size of a two-story building opens behind Jin's back and a large number of spears of different sizes and shapes come out slowly before plunging at high speed towards Yokoha. He managed to deflect the first few ones but the amount was too many to dodge so he tried to block them with hands. It was of no effect as a spear he tried to block almost tore his left arm apart. Blood spewed all over and his bones were exposed to the naked eye. Yokoha jumps back, starts to move his right hand to use magic the color of green on his left arm. Which in return starts to heal his injuries in right hand.

He can use pure earth manipulation? And at this scale? Heh, not bad. I have to take this guy seriously.

"Light Manipulation, Hundred Clones."

Jin chanted again, this time making a myriad of clones of himself that surrounds around Yokoha.

Yokoha also chants this time,

"WoodMech, Zyrrono"

His spell creates a giant mecha structure on the ground, overshadowing everything beneath it. It starts spinning around. Which starts to destroy the clones Jin made.

"Flame dispersion"

Yokoha chants again which makes the giant wooden structure fire concentrated flame with his hands like a mythical dragon does with his mouth.

"Hydro Dragon, Julius"

Jin counter attacks with his own spell, creating a dragon shaped outburst of water. Although it is smaller in size than Yokoha's wooden mech, Jin's clones are also doing the same at the same time. Which is quite powerful against the flame of the mech and since the mech is made of wood, it also affects the effectiveness of the mech.

Jin waves his hand above, pointing towards the very top of the giant's head. Instantly covering the stage with water. It even floods out of the stage, soaking other students too. The two fighters drown in water, completely invisible for the students and teachers.

After a while, the overwhelming amount of water begins to lower. The bright colorful blue of the water begins to fade into less colorfulness. A red color begins to emerge as the waters flood out, getting bigger and bigger. Until all the water goes away making them visible to the general public. There were two men, who fought better than all the others. Standing before their eyes is the contrast of the fighters.

Jin feels warm, his heart set ablaze, looking towards the sky. His face wet, water falling onto the ruby crystal grounds shining like a diamond. He stands outsmarted, being pierced by Yokoha. Jin's body froze, not a single movement.

This feeling, so this my defeat huh. I never would have imagined, yet I don't feel sad. The bodily pain, the destroyed heart can't overwhelm the feeling I have now. The cold my body feels is nothing before the warmth I feel right now, almost like a bliss. This is the most satisfying match I've fought.

"You defeated me; you have earned my respect. Yokoha."

"So, I presume I was able to make it your... half a day's worth?"

"Yeah.... more than that."

 Round 1

 Jin VS Yokoha

Points: 68 78]

Jin and Yokoha were teleported to their original place before being healed completely.

I feel no pain now, all the blood stains and wetness are removed from my clothes too. I wonder what type of manipulation this is.

"You were pretty strong out there, but the curse of luck made you fight with the prince of Leinvict." - A seemingly soft voice but not so soft as girl's murmurs into his ears.

"He's a prince?" Jin asks him, turning his head left to see the mysterious guy's face.

"Yeah, Yokoha Injuika, the youngest son of the king Gresvoha Injuika. He's a prodigy of his nation, he is said to have mastered Level three skills at the age of twelve. Impressive right?"

Level three skills at the age of twelve? It took me one and half a year more than him. And if it's true, he didn't even go all out against me.

"By the way, Jin, how did you even fight him after the crash? It seems you used some kind of healing spell but I didn't notice you casting any."

"Well, I used the Holy Light of Healing, I don't need to chant to cast it."

"HOLY LIGHT OF HEALING? BUT HOW?"- He screams. "But holy light users are super rare and the ability to use it as healing is even more. That means you are a talent house of yourself too. Well, I expect nothing less from the guy who went head-to-head with the prince Yokoha himself. I wonder how I'd do. I don't think I can make it if a powerhouse like you can't win the first round." He continues with a calmer tone.

"What's your name pal?"

"Oh me? I'm nobody, my name's Raijun. Raijun Tankanur"

"No middle name? Then you must be a commoner. The fact that you got into the academy means you have some talent too. So don't be too nervous."

"How can I not be? A Visionier of your caliber couldn't so what chance do I have dude?"

"Just like you said, mine was just bad luck. And the same thing happening to you is not likely."

Looks like the prince is first. Where's my name? Me, me, me, I don't notice my name above there.

Jin searches for his name from the top but he doesn't find it there.

Huh? I didn't notice but that commoner won two matches? Not bad.

Jin sees the person's name who was talking to him earlier at ninety-ninth place. Before finding his own at 101. Missed by a single spot.

Looks like I won't be qualifying for any of the factions. I had a feeling that this would happen but what infuriating is even that commoner pest is above me. This is too embarrassing. Fuck, I hate my life. I thought I was unbeatable, none is as talented as me but look at my score, it's such a joke. I just want to die right now.

The campus is almost empty, night time is approaching as the sun is setting above his head as he stands still in front of the result board. Contemplating everything that has happened over and over again.

Sure, he might be a prince, but I defeated those bratty princes all the time too. What's so special about this damn guy? Am I really just a worthless good for nothing head over the sky? Just like those cocky royal bloods? How did I lose!!! I fucking hate myself.

"Master Jin, Master Jin! Oh, there you are. I'm here to pick you up since it was taking you longer than expected to return to the palace." A lady around the age of twenty approaches Jin. She has shiny silver hair almost like polished aluminum. She's wearing black and white apron. "Oh master! You don't look so good, what happened?" She asks after gazing briefly at Jin's almost about to cry face.

"Nothing. Let's go home."
