Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 [The Forgotten Throne]

"The Forgotten Throne"

Jihoon, the former savior of Seojun, ventured alongside his party members, their footsteps echoing through a treacherous landscape. However, fate had a different plan in store for him. Without warning, Jihoon unknowingly triggered a concealed trap, causing the ground beneath him to give way. In a moment of panic, he let out a piercing scream as he tumbled into the depths of a deep hole, his voice echoing off the walls.

As Jihoon landed with a thud, he groaned in pain, his body aching from the fall. Slowly, he opened his eyes and surveyed his surroundings. He found himself inside a mysterious cave, its walls adorned with strange symbols and enigmatic writings. Despite their unfamiliarity, Jihoon realized that he could instinctively decipher their meaning. The unknown letters formed a riddle etched onto a massive door before him, asking, "There's a hero. There's a villain. Who am I?"

He winced and clutched his head, feeling a sharp pain as if a hammer had struck him. In a murmured response, Jihoon unwittingly spoke aloud the answer to the riddle. As if responding to his words, the door began to vibrate, and the unknown letters glowed, illuminating the path ahead.

Beyond the colossal doors, Jihoon's eyes widened with awe. A golden throne stood at the center of the chamber, while a book lay on a vibrant red carpet, seemingly beckoning to be picked up. Iron-clad soldiers, their armor bearing the weight of time, stood in respectful formation.

As Jihoon cautiously approached, their stances shifted, their alerted presence evident. One among them spoke, albeit with a chillingly cold voice, addressing Jihoon by name.

"I'm Ji-hoon who are you people. And why you wouldn't attack me?"

In response, one of the soldiers, his voice emanating from within the confines of his armor, spoke with a chilling resolve. "If you were not the king, we would have attacked the moment you set foot in this palace."

Confused and troubled by their unwavering conviction, Jihoon furrowed his brow. "I don't understand. How can I be a king?"

The soldiers, their gazes unwavering, solemnly replied in unison, "The signs, the prophecies, and the ancient texts have foretold your arrival. You are the one destined to lead us."

Jihoon's mind raced with disbelief, struggling to reconcile his own identity with the weight of their words. But as he looked into the unwavering eyes of the soldiers, he sensed an undeniable truth in their conviction.

"I... I need to understand," Jihoon stammered, his voice filled with uncertainty. "Why would I be chosen as your king?"

Bewildered, Jihoon struggled to grasp the situation until the soldiers pleaded for him to pick up the enigmatic book.

"The book?" Ji-hoon thought.

As Jihoon reached for the mysterious book, a sudden rush of memories flooded his mind. He witnessed the life of a benevolent king who had led his kingdom with unwavering harmony. However, a demon had descended upon the land, ravaging everything in its path, leaving only the castle untouched. In the throne room, the king had commanded his soldiers to flee while he confronted the demon alone. Yet, the loyal soldiers refused to abandon their king, enduring immense pain as they shielded him from the malevolent aura emanating from the demon. Just as the memory reached its climax, it abruptly cut off, leaving Jihoon gasping for breath and grappling with the realization of his own existence.

"I'm alive..." he muttered in disbelief, his gaze fixed on the ground, contemplating the profound implications of his memories.

The soldiers, face were satisfied by the result but due of their armors Jihoon can't see it and one of the soldiers said,

"The threads of fate are mysterious, and sometimes they choose those who least expect it. It is not for us to question but to serve."

As Jihoon absorbed their words, a mixture of awe and trepidation filled his heart. The realization that he might be destined for a role he never sought or imagined weighed heavily upon him. Yet, a flicker of determination ignited within him, a flame of purpose that he couldn't ignore.

"Very well," Jihoon said, his voice growing steady. "If it is my fate to lead, then I will do so with honor and the utmost dedication."

The soldiers, their stance unwavering, bowed their heads in reverence. "We pledge our unwavering loyalty to you, our king. May your reign bring prosperity and peace to our land."

And so, Jihoon, still grappling with his newfound role, embarked on a path that would test his resolve, challenge his beliefs, and unveil the true extent of his power.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Seoul, a young boynamed Seojun savored the delight of an ice vanilla cream treat his father had brought home. His father inquired whether he would like to enroll in the Hero Academy, and Seojun's excitement was palpable as he eagerly agreed.

In the depths of an abyss-like realm, a figure materialized, towering amidst the darkness. With piercing eyes, he observed the events unfolding in the world below as if witnessing a live spectacle. The ethereal void surrounding him seemed to pulsate with sinister energy.

His gaze fixated on two individuals, Seojun and Jihoon, who stood unaware of the figure's presence. A sinister smirk curled upon the figure's face as his eyes narrowed, revealing thorny horns protruding from his forehead.

"The vessel of the child and the forgotten king," he muttered, his voice laced with malevolence. "Their intertwined destinies shall serve my purpose well."

As he watched the two figures, memories of a past encounter flickered in his mind. Images of a heroic battle and a bitter defeat resurfaced, reminding him of a familiar face that bore a striking resemblance to Jihoon.

Momentarily lost in the memories, the figure's expression twisted with disdain. "How ironic," he sneered, "to witness the descendant of my sworn enemy taking part in this unfolding drama."

Shaking off the distraction, the figure refocused on the present. "But it matters not," he chuckled darkly. "Their connection shall pave the way for my resurgence and the chaos that shall ensue."

A chilling laughter echoed through the abyss-like realm as the figure reveled in his wicked plans, his eyes never leaving Seojun and Jihoon as they unknowingly played their parts in the unfolding tapestry of destiny.

Meanwhile, in the lively town of Seojun, anticipation filled the air as the enrollment day for the renowned Hero Academy approached. Seojun, a bright and determined young boy, had been preparing diligently, studying day and night to make his parents proud. His commitment to excellence was evident in the stacks of books that adorned his desk, their pages filled with handwritten notes and underlined passages.

Seojun's parents couldn't help but adore their son's dedication and enthusiasm. They beamed with pride as they watched him navigate through complex equations and practice his combat techniques. They captured every precious moment, constantly snapping photos of Seojun in his element. However, Seojun, engrossed in his studies, often pretended not to notice their presence, choosing to focus solely on his goals.

Yet, every now and then, a pang of guilt tugged at Seojun's heart as he stole a glance at his parents. He realized that their excitement and love were genuine, and he didn't want to dismiss their efforts completely. With a faint smile, he tried to acknowledge their presence, even if it was just for a fleeting moment, to let them know that their support mattered.

Amidst the flurry of preparations, Seojun couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and excitement. The Hero Academy represented a dream come true, an opportunity to hone his skills and make a difference in the world. As he meticulously packed his bag and adjusted his uniform, Seojun's determination burned brightly, propelling him forward on his path to becoming a hero.

Little did Seojun know that his journey was intertwined with that of Jihoon, the forgotten king, and that their fates were connected in ways they could never have imagined. As the figure in the abyss-like realm reveled in his wicked plans, the stage was set for a tale of destiny, courage, and the ultimate clash between light and darkness.
