I woke up and looked out the window; the rays of the morning sun shone through the window. The sun was just coming up, and it was way too early, but I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep more. Not that I had to, to start with; it was just fun sometimes.
I yawned and glanced at the girls still sleeping next to each other. Luna had her head on the pillow while Lila held onto her and lay upside down with her feet above Luna's head and her cheek against Luna's crotch.
I got up and walked over to my closet. After opening it, I remembered there were no more clean clothes in there.
I opened the shop to the clothes, 'Kitty, why are all the clothes grayed out?'
[I refuse to be your slave and make simple things for you! You have more than enough brain power to do it yourself!]
'So then, how am I going to get clothes?'
[You'll make them.]
'Sew my own clothes?'
[How do you expect to create entire multiverses if you can't even make simple clothes?]
I looked for fabric, 'You don't have fabric either.'
[You're so dumb.]
'Why, thank you. Would you please give me some guidance, your highness?'
[You remember your devour skill, right?]
No shit, 'Yes.'
[And how you spread your energy through the entire thing you want to devour.]
I think I'm an expert in that one by now, 'Yes.'
[Pick up your shirt from yesterday.]
I did as told, 'Okay, done.'
[Now spread your energy through the entire thing, but rather than breaking it down, discover every detail of it. Comprehend the very essence of the shirt.]
It took me a good 5 minutes to figure it out. Extremely fine fibers wound together into fine threads, woven together into fabric in shapes that were then held together with more thread. I felt fine fibers that had broken and were going in all different directions and could not be seen with normal vision; I figure this is the result of wear.
After understanding every bit of the shirt, I had to understand exactly how energy was structured into the components that form atoms, then molecules, and how those are linked together into the fibers. Bloody hell, that was way more difficult than injecting energy in and blending it up till everything that was there turned to energy, then slurping it up.
'Okay, I think I got it.'
[Now do it like you do for changing energy into lesser energy when you cultivate and such, but change it into what you just felt.]
I tossed the shirt to the side in case I needed it for reference again. I tried using a little energy to duplicate what I'd comprehended from the shirt.
Flash!
Mutha F*cker. The brightest flash ever appeared in my hands; I couldn't see for nothing. It was like I teleported to the center of the sun for a millisecond before teleporting back.
Both the girls were instantly awake, and I could hear them jump up and out of bed with worried faces, and Luna spoke, "Max! What was that? Are you okay?"
Nona and Alexis appeared in the doorway.
I'm not okay; I can't see! At least I can pretend I can by using my divine sense. I looked in their direction, "Yes, I'm fine; I was just experimenting with a new thing. Sorry to wake you."
"Alright, as long as you're fine."
I'll be fine after a bit, so no need to worry them. "I'll go somewhere else and continue while you guys get dressed."
I left the room and went into one of the empty bedrooms, shutting the door. I tried casting a healing spell on myself; it didn't work.
'Kitty, I'll be able to see again right?'
[Yes, after a bit.]
'What happened?'
[You didn't structure it properly, and it degraded immediately after you stopped holding onto it. It wasn't stable. Just try again until you get it.]
Easy for you to say; you're not the one blinded.
I tried again, this time closing my eyes and looking away. It didn't require watching anyway.
Flashes kept happening. I was getting better since it was staying stable for a little longer, although it was still almost a nonexistent amount of time.
Finally, after I have no idea how long, it stayed. I held up my new shirt with a feeling of intense satisfaction and examined it with my divine sense, seeing it was all good and no weird holes or something. I put it on and went to look for my pants from yesterday. I wasn't feeling adventurous enough to try making them also and just wore the same ones. They were a project for after class.
After eating a delicious breakfast prepared by Alexis and Nona, although not as good as Elaria's, we went to class.
We drove the new car and again arrived before mom dropped off Zari. Nyla was riding on top, eating some cereal inside a barrier to keep her food from spilling in the wind. It was quite the amusing scene.
We followed her to class again, although I could not see. Between my divine sense, which was superior to vision for anything within range, and the tracking spell, I had no problem keeping up.
We sat down for class in the same order again. A little while into the lecture, Lila worked her tail into my lap. Although it was glamoured, I could still feel it as the glamour spell she used wasn't powerful enough to affect me. I grabbed her tail and gave it a gentle tug while turning my head to look at her.
Lila withdrew her tail, then narrowed her eyes, "Can you not see?"
Zari turned her head over and looked at me at the topic of this odd conversation.
What? How'd she know? "Of course, I can see; I'm looking at you, aren't I?"
"No, you're not. You're not looking at me and you're not looking at Zari behind me. You're looking way beyond the wall. And you're not actually looking there."
She got me with that one; if my eyes aren't focused when looking at her and she can tell I'm not looking through the void due to there being no fluctuations, I'm not looking at her with my eyes.
I tried to bring my eyes to the correct focus, "I can see; I was just zoned out."
She waved her hand in front of me, "Aleeexaaannderrrr, you can't see. You're still not focused properly. You're now looking at your nose."
Zari's eyes suddenly showed interest; however, she didn't say anything and turned back to her book. She was definitely still listening though.
"Okay, I can't see since this morning, the flash that woke you and Luna up. I'll be fine; it's only temporary."
Her cheeks puffed out with annoyance, "If you can't see by the end of classes today, I'll tell Luna."
Er, can you not? She wouldn't let me go anywhere and try to do everything for me even if my divine sense works fine. She'd probably worry about me damaging my divine sense somehow also.
I put on an enthusiastic smile and held a thumbs up, "I'm sure I'll be fine!"
---
We had 2 more classes, then we went to lunch; by now I can see vague shadows. Lila didn't drag me off to the bathroom, but rather lunch today.
She took me over to one of the tables and pulled me down into a seat, "I'll get you something to eat."
"I can get myself something."
"No, it's creepy how you look behind someone. Not that freaking people out is bad, but they seem like nice old ladies and you will be back."
Well, I guess she's probably not wrong.
She went over to the lunch line a few people behind Zari. After a few minutes, Zari actually came over by herself, "It's only right that I sit here since you guys keep sitting next to me."
I made a motion to all the seats around the table, "Sure."
She sat down across from me, looked like she had something she was contemplating, but decided to just eat in silence.
Lila showed up with 2 trays of food; she placed one in front of me and the fork next to it before sitting down on my left side.
I picked up the fork and tapped the tray next to it before sticking it in some mashed potatoes; there was also breaded chicken breasts and canned green beans.
I took a bite of mashed potatoes before deciding they were not worth eating since I didn't have to anyway. The chicken was the same, not worth chewing. I set my fork down deciding I wasn't eating it, and Lila was also looking at the food with disappointment. She ate some more of the chicken but didn't finish.
The mashed potatoes were blah; chicken is never my favorite unless it's chicken noodle soup, and I hate canned green beans with a passion. I won't even try eating them; no thank you! Green beans from the garden though... those are good.
Zari cleaned off her whole plate, which made me wonder if I was just now too spoiled or if she wasn't getting enough to eat. No, she must not be getting enough to eat; we have always shared a mutual hatred for canned green beans. And she's not the one of us who likes mashed potatoes. Even the good ones she only likes a little, let alone the bad ones.
Lila took our trays to drop them off before coming back for me. We walked to the next class again before Zari; I was a little curious if she would sit in her usual seat next to us or change. She came in and sat down next to Lila.
Well, she must feel either neutral or good about us at least.
---
Classes ended for the day, and I could now see about perfectly.
Lila squinted her eyes and looked into mine, "I see you can see now."
"Yep!"
We left the building and I looked over to where the car explosion was yesterday. The car was gone, presumably towed away to a lab. There were only police tape surrounding the area and several spots in all directions. I could feel a gaze watching all the students, waiting for someone to duck under the tape and mess with something. Apparently, they are trying to find someone tampering with whatever might be left to hide something.
Someone had set up a little memorial with a picture of the dead guy against a tree. Apparently, he wasn't well-liked as there were only 6 flowers in front of the picture.
We drove off again and passed Zari waiting by the gate again. I stopped, and Lila rolled down her window, "Want a ride?"
"No, thank you."
Lila waved goodbye as she rolled her window back up, "Okay, see you tomorrow!"
I drove away and called Elaria, "Have someone bring you some food. Some steaks and marinade, ground beef, peaches, romaine and ranch dressing, cherry tomatoes, those little expensive baby potato things, canned corn, spaghetti sauce and noodles, and some seasonings. However much you think is reasonable to bring over to my mom's house for whatever reason you can think of. Being good neighbors, bought extra, both, whatever."
All things I know Zari likes to eat; mom will also.
"Yes, Master, I'll have Nona go shopping right away. Do you remember you bought their house?"
Er, no I forgot. Does that make delivering food weird? "Yes, if that makes delivering food strange, I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do."
"Yes Master, I'll deliver a reasonable amount and type. Picking from what you told me."
