Chapter 83 - C82- The Septen War (2)

"Alright... The last one is loaded as well!"

"Alright!"

In front of the factory in Alaturb, a luxurious carriage filled with boxes started it's path, followed by guards. This carriage was the first of the many shipments to the Emperor.

"It's crazy to think we are a major weapon supplier of the Emperor... I never thought we would have come here three months ago..."

"But it was worth working on this for two months, wasn't it?"

Two months had passed since their meeting with the Emperor, and many things had changed.

It took Corvin about a month and a half to design a rifle that could be loaded with more than one bullet. He also worked on their general design and the black powder mixture. While Clair worked on creating a more efficient production line, Noah worked on the finance of the factory.

But currently, both Corvin and Clair were working on the same thing. They needed different and better machines with more precision to produce the newer designs. This need resulted in designing a bunch of new machines that let them make a lot more different parts.

"We need a new workshop..."

The two of them were in a creative frenzy, coming up with many other inventions that could be made with the new machines and parts they could produce. The factory they were working in was soon going to be overcrowded with machines that didn't help the weapon production.

"Well... Just hold on until we graduate. Then I will build a giant workshop in the village."

"Oh! Mr. New-Noble has a great idea!"

"Don't call me that."

"Sorry, Mr. Black-Hair Knight."

"Don't call me that either."

"Light Blue Knight?"

"No."

"Whi-"

"I said no."

"You are so boring..."

"HEY! LOOK AT THIS!!"

While Noah and Corvin were joking, Clair called them. Entering the factory, they heard a buzzing sound.

"What happened?"

"Look at this!"

They got next to Clair, who was next to two cylindrical shapes covered in copper wires.

"...What, you made another one of these? Isn't one of them already almost too much power to light up this place at night?"

"No, look at this!"

Clair started turning one of them using the long handle. After a second, the other also started to turn on it's own, creating a buzzing sound.

"Look! It is turning!"

"...Yeah, didn't this whole thing start because you made one of these that worked with coal already?"

"That's not it! Look!"

Clair pulled a pin that connected the two cylinders off. The other one started to slow down and stop.

"..."

"..."

"Don't you see!?"

"I don't get what we can use this for..."

"Of course you don't, Noah. I am mostly asking the one who was an actual brain anyways."

"Hey! My math is good! Just because I am not good with physics doesn't mean-"

"Yeah yeah yeah, complain later. I am waiting for Corvin to get out of his thinking mode currently."

Looking at his friend's blank expression, Noah nodded his head.

"Oh right... He is completely gone..."

"Right?"

Corvin suddenly flinched, rushed towards his desk and started writing on a paper. After writing for a bit, he got up, grabbed some of the callibration gadgets they had and ran towards Clair again.

"Here he is."

"Clair! Turn that thing again!", he said as he connected the gadgets on the contraption.

Clair started turning the handle again, and Corvin noted down the readings quickly.

"Hold on Clair, step away for a bit."

"Okay?"

Clair stepped away, the handle started to slow down. Just as it stopped, it started to turn in a constant speed. Corvin was using his magic to turn it. After writing down something, he ran towards his desk again. After a bit of scribbling, calculations and writing, he lifted the paper up and stared at it with a smile, then audibly laughed.

"What are you doing?"

"You... You just invented a crazy thing!"

"What?"

"These things..."

"What about them?"

"Not only can it turn motion into electricity but the reverse as well! We can use them everywhere! We definitely need that workshop... Oh man! I can't stop myself from thinking! There is so much stuff that come to my mind, before we can do all of them, we may become old sacks of bones!"

"What?... Is it really?"

*****

Three days later, the first weapon shipment reached the Emperor. Standing in front of the two hundred soldiers chosen to use these weapons for the first time in history, he spoke.

"The war with the Septen Kingdom, started half a month ago! Our undefeatable army is advancing without a problem, but the thing is, it is taking too long! The savages of the Sorept continent are also eyeing the lands that are rightfully ours! That's why, I chose you all here to test these new weapons of the Empire! Made by a genius knight of our Empire, these weapons are stronger than the armour of your enemies! You all have a week to learn how to use these weapons to write history with them!"

The soldiers all saluted the Emperor at the same time. The thunder of four hundred feet shook the cold northern land beneath them. As the royal guard distributed the weapons and started explaining them, soon the sound of gunfire silenced everything.

That week, the two hundred men fired more than ten thousand bullets during their training. All of them were able to use a gun well enough for a war in just a week.

'The weapon is great enough to be the first choice in most wars for a leader. And since it uses bullets, there will always be sales even if no new weapons aren't sold... Hahaha! What a great business! I kind of regret allowing them a monopoly now!'

Amazed by how easy it was for the army to gain more power, the Emperor was feeling amazed and fear at the same time. But it wasn't the time to dwell on worries now, there was an active war going on that needed a leader. Ordering the soldiers to walk towards the battlefield about half a day away, he rode his horse accompanied by the roar of four hundred feet on march, while he was thinking about how to change his war tactics to suit this new weapon more.

The first war in the history of the planet Kaweck where firearms were used thus started.
