Chapter 74 - C73- Reload (1)

Corvin glanced towards the thing that flew outside the Queen's room.

"Eh? Acherie?"

From the corner of his eyes, he saw Acherie, who was crying while shouting. When Corvin saw some bugs attacking towards her, he jumped in between and protected her from the incoming bugs. He shouted at Noah, who was playing his violin behind him.

"Noah! Slow down for a bit and talk with her."

Noah's violin slowed down and he walked up to the woman crying on the ground with eyes that didn't seem to be seeing anything currently.

"Acherie."

"...Kh.."

"Acherie!"

"..Khar..."

"ACHERIE!"

Noah nudged the woman with his elbow while trying not to stop casting his magic with the violin. Acherie suddenly lifted her face and her eyes regained their focus. The blood drained from her face completely and she suddenly got off the ground.

"KHARON!!!"

"Hey! Stop! I'm sorry Corvin! I'm going to stop the magic for a bit!"

"It's okay! I can hold on for now!"

Noah placed his violin on the ground and tried to stop the woman who was trying to jump back into the Queen's room while screaming. Since she was screaming Kharon's name, Noah figured something happened to him, and the plan failed.

'That's... painful... But I can't let her die or Kharon would haunt me for the rest of my life..'

"Acherie! Stop!"

"Let me go! He! He is still there!"

"Don't die with him!"

"He isn't dead! Let me go!"

"If he was alive, you would still be fighting there!"

Acherie's face crumpled with rage and she started pushing Noah harder.

"Let me go! I need to see him!"

"I can't let you go! You will die!"

"Please! I can still save him! I just need to go!"

"No! Don't you understand it is already too late if he sent you here!"

Acherie fell down on her knees. She clenched her fists on the grund and shouted.

"I KNOW! I KNOW HE IS DEAD! THAT'S WHY I WANT TO GO!! I WANT TO DIE TOO!!"

As she stopped resisting, Noah shouted at Corvin.

"Corvin! Plan failed! We lost Kharon! Pull us out of here!"

Hearing this, Corvin's face soured and he let out a shout as he swung his sword that shone light green. The sword moved in a blur as the monsters in front of Corvin all got cut in half. Noah felt his body get lighter and he started to glow light green. Noah looked at Corvin, whose eyes were bloodshot and his body tattered.

'Why does he take so much burden on himself...'

As Noah and Acherie lift off the ground along with Corvin, they start to move away from the Queen's room and over the monsters that are trying to reach them inside the wide corridors of the nest.

Feeling herself be lifted and moved away, Acherie tries to resist being taken away from her Kharon.

"NO! LET ME GO! I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!"

She uses har matter magic to create ledges at where Corvin was moving her to stop him. She continuously placed her foot on the walls and extended the stone under her feet with magic to push herself away. Every time she tried so, Corvin's sword would come flying with a ligth green trail and cut her foothold before she could jump away.

As they flew over the monsters that at one point ignored them and ran towards their Queen, they came across the illusion that Amy and Clair were hiding behind. Corvin quickly used his sword and magic to cut a piece of the drawing to stop the illusion and pulled the girls into their flying formation as well.

"Hey! Corvin! Don't push yourself too hard!"

Blood was pouring out of Corvin's eyes, mouth and nose. But Corvin's eyes were still filled with determination as he pulled out a piece of metal and flint. The flint and metal glowed light green as they flew backwards. Clanking sounds echoed in the corridors as the yellow light of sparks appeared. Soon after, the sound of explosions one after another started to be heard inside the cave.

BOOOM!! BOOOM!!

As the line of explosives started going off, the sound of a flute reached Corvin's ears. He felt the ringing in his head get a bit quieter. He glanced at Noah for a second. Noah was playing a small flute he took out from his belt. Noah smiled and took the flute out of his mouth for a second and quickly said something before quickly continuing playing the flute.

"I carried this around in case something happened to my violin. Be thankful."

Corvin was too mentally tired to note that in his mind so he just nodded and focused on getting out of here. Amy and Clair were trying to talk with Acherie, who had given up on trying to go back to Kharon ever since the explosions started to echo in the corridor. She was looking behind with an empty face, and her body didn't react to any kind of stimuli from the outside as she kept on muttering Kharon's name.

After a while, the green light around them started to get dimmer. Noah, who realized this tried to talk to Corvin and make him drop their backpacks and only carry people, but his sound didn't reach Corvin as the ringing in his head was too much to hear anything. He wasn't in a condition to realize they were getting slower as well.

As the sounds of the numerous explosions echoed in the nest, they finally reached the ears of the escapee group. The volunteer young girl pulled the strings that were connected to the explosives as she was told and the countdown mechanism started. She told everyone to get as far away from the mountain as possible, using her magic to make sure her voice reached every group.

Corvin gave it his all and tried to get out of the cave as soon as possible. Everything hurt, his head felt like it was exploding and his mouth tasted like blood. His vision got darker and darker but he kept on going. When he lost most of his vision, he used his pain to detect when he hit walls and turned according to that. The ringing in his head got louder and louder. He was pushing himself too much, and not long after, everyone along with himself fell down.

He couldn't use magic anymore, probably because of the internal damage to his brain from pushing himself too hard. But he didn't lose consciousness. As everyone tumbled on the ground and groaned in pain from falling, he didn't feel any pain. He fell on his back and stared at the ceiling of the corridor and the shining moss line that went through the middle.

Not much later, the ground started to shake. The rumbling and roars of explosions came from above this time, and Corvin watched as the walls started to crack and crumble. All he could do was watch as the nest started to fall on itself. His consciousness kept awake by the ruptured veins that still fed his brain with fresh blood, he saw a giant rock seperate itself from the ceiling and fall on him. As the rock fell on his stomach and crushed his body, time suddenly stopped.
