Ramesses was able to make it back to the pub walking on his own that night from his fight with Apep. Tafari had been helping him each night destroying the beast that continued to respawn every night and each night that passed Ramesses couldn't help but to notice Tafari becoming more and more powerful. He was learning quickly on how to use his powers as a God and their limits.
Ramesses knew Tafari was going to make a good God in ancient Egypt. Maybe one of the best…
When he reached the pub he decided not to even bother hanging around downstairs he was drained and the only thing that was on his mind right now was laying down and pretending to sleep. Since him actually falling asleep was impossible. At least he could gather his strength back up. The last thing he wanted to do was deal with anything else that would give him a headache.
It was almost as if he had jinxed himself. As he was making his way up the stairs he saw Ammut passing him by. He felt a sudden feeling of anguish that he knew truly was not his but Paimon's. Ramesses truly felt sorry for Paimon but at the same time could never understand why he fell in love with a demon goddess that didn't even hold him to a high standard. Paimon had so much power yet he was treated as a male slave when he was alive with the only purpose of producing children.
I guess we are all cursed in our own ways.
Ramesses was still enraged with himself for thinking Ramuna was Ammut and playing Paimon's memories onto her. If only he had known Ramuna was actually-
No he wouldn't dare think of it and risk anyone picking up on his thoughts. It would give him away that he had more knowledge on what was happening than they expected out of him. He was still angry that Ramuna gave Ammut a chance at life and pitied her. In his eyes Paimon deserved so much more than what was dealt to him.
Ammut paused before walking completely by him. She stared at him lazily and looked him over before continuing to walk.
Ramesses rolled his eyes. If a woman was the embodiment of pettiness it would be Ammut and of course his pride problem never helped him any.
"Liked what you saw or something?" He said slyly, turning back to look at her.
He watched as she froze at the top of the stairs and turned back to face him.
Well if looks could kill she could embody that too.
"I feel sorry that my love is trapped in a body such as yours."
Ramesses gave her a large grin. "Too bad it's not my body either, otherwise your words would have wounded me, Ammut."
Ammut crossed her arms and continued to glare at him. "With the way you speak to Ramuna I hope you don't get your body back either."
Now this was psychological warfare that Ramesses could not let go. If she knew who I truly was she would be on her hands and knees begging for forgiveness right now.
Please just get back to the room and rest. A voice invaded his mind, sounding weak and worried. It was Paimon's. Ramesses could tell Paimon could barely keep his emotions together seeing Ammut near them. He also could tell Paimon desperately wanted to reach out to her but knew she would refuse knowing Ramesses shared the same body with him.
Why do you insist on comforting this demon? Ramesses hissed. Sending the message to Paimon's consciousness.
Paimon went silent. It was almost like his whole being just disappeared from Ramesses. He couldn't even sense Paimon anymore. That's how badly he disconnected. Ramesses couldn't control it Paimon's actions made him despise Ammut even more. Paimon was the strongest disciple he had ever come across and something as silly as a demonic woman made him weak and barely anything.
Ramesses decided to give Ammut a taste of her own medicine since Paimon disconnected himself from the real world.
"Look at you trying to play good guy, Ammut," Ramesses said, holding his arms out as if in surprise, lifting his eyebrows in a sinister way. "Is this community service for getting your whore and kids killed?"
Ramesses was impressed when the woman just turned and continued to go down the stairs. Impressive.
He really had thought she was going to continue to challenge him. As he turned to continue down the hall Ramuna was standing there arms crossed not even standing a foot away from him.
So that's why Ammut decided to ignore him. Ammut's master happened to have been near.
"You feel the need to attack everyone don't you?" With the tone Ramuna used Ramesses knew it was more of a statement than it was a question.
"My apologies. It's just a little hard being in the same building as a demon married to a furious god that wants to annihilate everything and a woman who just shrugs off genocide and many other sins."
Now it was his turn to get away from her. The last thing he wanted to do was stand in the hallway and argue with her.
Especially when he was just trying to play a part and the best way he could continue was to stay away from her.
Thankfully she did not try to stop him from walking towards his room and entering. The moment he shut his door though something felt awfully different. Something changed. Not just within his room or the pub but the whole city.
Ramesses strained his hearing and heard a flickering sound that kept coming and going and as he moved deeper into his room he saw that the candle on his nightstand was lighting itself on fire and then distinguishing and then lighting itself back up as quickly as it went out.
Well that's not good.
A bone chilling feeling came over him. He only knew one person who had the power to do that and that was well… him. Only he should be able to do the Hex that he was watching.
Ramesses quickly left his room and went back to the hallway. Ramuna was no longer there but who's to say this hex would even affect her because of her power? But the people..
He rushed down the stairs and through the dining area and out the front door. The streets were empty and no one in sight was able to give him some form of answer if time was moving at unusual speeds.
Just as his room, all the lights on the pillars were going in and out.
"This is not good at all." Ramesses said through gritted teeth.
