Chapter 58 - deja vu

"The guy is running way too fast!"

Garnett frowned. Just now, he had already seen through Carter's screen and immediately chased out. However, he couldn't keep up with Carlos's speed at all.

"This center's speed is unusually tricky."

Pierce also noticed the anomaly.

"Be careful."

Ray Allen reminded, "Don't treat Carlos as a traditional center. He is an absolutely special center who can run and jump, a center with explosive physical talent. Also, don't think of him as a rookie; his strength is formidable."

Ray Allen, who had thoroughly studied Carlos, gave his teammates a pertinent reminder. However, it seemed that this warning was not taken too seriously.

Moreover, both Pierce and Garnett, the reigning champions, would not be frightened by an NBA rookie.

"Smack!"

The ball was passed to the left low post, and Garnett faced Carlos. Not only was he not afraid, but he also wanted to take him one-on-one, giving Carlos a heavy blow in the most direct and straightforward manner.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

Garnett backed down Carlos, engaging in continuous and intense confrontation. He occasionally followed a half-turn, maintaining a perfect control of the ball, demonstrating a solid and steady backdown.

Garnett suddenly halted his footwork.

"Swoosh!"

A lateral step for acceleration.

Garnett evaded Carlos and prepared to shoot, but Carlos pounced on him. However, this time, Garnett faked the shot, and Carlos jumped for the fake.

"Youngster!"

Garnett's mouth curled slightly upward, feeling triumphant. Keeping his left foot stationary and probing his right foot forward, he effortlessly laid the ball into the basket.

"Got it!"

With the ball leaving Garnett's palm, just as it hit the backboard, a large hand descended from above and slammed the ball onto the backboard.

Then, the ball was grabbed out of the air and held firmly in the hand!

"What?!"

Garnett was greatly surprised. When he turned his head and saw Carlos blocking him and grabbing the board, his eyes widened, and his face revealed an expression of disbelief.

How was this possible!

"Unbelievable!"

Jon Barry also widened his mouth, showing an incredulous expression. "Facing the former 'Big Ticket' Garnett, Carlos, even after biting the fake, can still block Garnett and grab the board. What kind of bounce, explosion, and arm length are needed for this?!"

"Hehe!"

Mark Jackson chuckled and said, "That's right, Carlos has superhuman talent. Only such despair-inducing talent can allow him to block Garnett and grab the board."

"Amazing, Carlos!"

Amidst the astonished commentary, the game on the court did not stop. After blocking Garnett and grabbing the board, Carlos focused his gaze and made a pass like a rocket.

A rapid and accurate pass found Nash in the frontcourt.

"Splash!"

Nash then passed the ball to Curry at the right wing. Curry raised his hand and made a counter-attack three-pointer.

"Swoosh!"

The shot was swift and accurate.

Two three-pointers in a row.

The Suns scored six consecutive points.

Pierce continued to push forward with the ball. Carter was responsible for guarding the ball handler, and Rondo immediately came forward to help Pierce set a screen. Pierce once again played off Nash in a ruthless offensive manner, overpowering Nash's defense like a tank entering a plain.

"Splash!"

Continuing to dribble, intense confrontations in a small area, sudden acceleration—Pierce successfully shook off Nash. With two steps into the paint, he turned and faked out the recovering Frye. Pierce, beneath the basket, didn't even glance at the hoop. Relying purely on instinct, he lightly scooped the ball for a shot.

A layup so close to the basket that it almost touched the rim—considered a 100% success.

And then...

"Step!"

Carlos on the wing dashed out like a cheetah, taking a heavy step on the floor, leaping high with a terrifying bounce. His backward jump preceded, extending his long arms to an extreme height.

"Smack!"

He swatted the basketball away.

"How is that possible?!"

Pierce's pupils suddenly contracted, shocked beyond words. But before he could think too much, he quickly turned around to reclaim the ball. Yet, a figure flashed past him.

Looking up again...

Carlos had already appeared in front of him, snatching the rebound and accelerating for a fast break.

Curry, Nash, and Carter also wasted no time and sprinted out, the four of them speeding forward, creating a visually stunning effect.

"This..."

In the commentary box...

Jon Barry, watching this scene, felt a shock, a faint sense of deja vu.

On the court...

The Suns were fast, and the Celtics were equally quick to retreat. Ray Allen, Garnett, and Rondo immediately went back on defense. While Pierce wasn't as fast as Carlos, he was still closely chasing from behind.

"The Celtics are fast in retreating. With Curry, Nash, and Carter covered in the frontcourt, and the ball in the hands of a center, the Suns' fast-break counter-attack might not succeed."

"Yes, it can only be a half-court play!"

Some fans were discussing, but the next moment, their eyes widened, and their eyeballs seemed to want to pop out of their sockets.

The center, Carlos, penetrated the entire court in a fast break, dunking in a one-man show, with a block followed by a thunderous dunk.

One defensive play, one offensive play, Carlos ignited the entire arena, prompting deafening cheers in the Western Pavilion.

"This dunk is so fantastic!"

"Carlos—"

Some fans in the arena had gone crazy, especially some female fans who were completely captivated by Carlos's dunk. They were hysterically screaming as if they had taken ecstasy.

"Clang!"

In the atmosphere of the home court going crazy, Ray Allen missed an open three-pointer. Curry grabbed the rebound, and the whole team accelerated, launching another counter-attack for the Suns!

"Swoosh!"

Curry accelerated, facing Pierce's defense on the left side. His speed did not diminish, and suddenly, with a strange left-handed behind-the-back pass, the ball passed through Ray Allen.

"Smack!"

Carlos, cutting from the free-throw line, received the ball, and after a three-step start, he took off like a giant King Kong, directly performing a one-handed slam dunk!

"Boom!"

A block and a one-man fast-break dunk.

In just 5-6 seconds, this entire sequence of actions was incredibly smooth and highly entertaining. It further boosted the morale of the already passionate players, making the atmosphere in the arena even more intense, causing the Celtics to feel a bit breathless.

"Swoosh!"

Rondo received the ball and accelerated. His mind rapidly rotated, thinking about how to connect the team and initiate a counter-attack. He ran to the frontcourt and saw Pierce on the other side requesting the ball.

"Splash!"

He passed it out...

But just as the basketball flew towards Pierce, Curry suddenly rushed out, slapped the ball away with one hand, and immediately ran out to snatch the ball. Rondo was stunned and hurriedly chased after.

Curry still grabbed the ball first, and as Rondo caught up, Curry, with a sudden crosscourt pass, sent the ball to the right frontcourt.

For whom?

Rondo turned his head abruptly, only to see Carlos on the right arc, receiving the ball in an open position. After catching the ball, he shot a three-pointer with a flick of his wrist, and the basketball soared into the sky, drawing a beautiful arc.

Accompanied by the delightful swish of the net.

"Swoosh!"

Swish! The hollow shot went in!

"Wow... the Suns' fast-break coordination is like flowing clouds and water, and it's so fast!"

Mark Jackson exclaimed.

Upon hearing this, Jon Barry shook all over, then shouted, "I remember now, this... this is the run and gun, this is the Suns' run and gun!"
