A dozen or so troops stationed on a cliff watched as an army passed below them. Large metal machines with eight legs and cannons strapped on top walked across the terrain, scaring away the wildlife. Unlike before where the wild beasts destroyed the passing armies, it was nothing like that now. The soldiers were wreaking havoc at a large scale, burning forests to keep the beasts away.
The Captain in charge of the soldiers, Rijn Kolin, was watching closely. Next to her, a male aide drew the shape of the creatures on a piece of paper, ensuring that he was getting every single detail down. They needed this information if they wanted to make machinery that could keep up.
They had around a dozen cannons with them to ensure their safety. They weren't planning on using them just yet, but were authorised by the Commander-in-Chief to do so if needed. They didn't necessarily want to fire the first shot, as that might make them look like the aggressor in this situation.
