Two dices lay side by side, the first one four, the second one three.
Kotaro jumped to his feet and cried out, "ODD! I WON! I WON!!!"
The other gamblers sneered at him.
"Kotaro-san, are you still daydreaming? You didn't even place a bet. You just made a lucky guess, that's all."
Kotaro's face quickly fell when the realization dawned on him.
"Oh. Right."
Laughter erupted in the dimly lit room, the sound echoing off the walls. Kotaro, embarrassed, scratched his head. He stole a glance at the two women beside him -- the only ones who remained silent amidst the merriment.
Midori, however, had no interest in the humor circulating the room. With practiced efficiency, she counted the money she had just won - 5,500 yen in a flash. Finishing the tally, she calmly slid 500 yen in Kotaro's direction.
"Thank you for the tip," she said with a smile. "I wouldn't have won if not because of you."
