After taking rickshaws back and forth and engaging in several infuriating conversations with various men today, Midori's heart ached as much as her rear. All she desired upon returning home was a soothing bath and a peaceful slumber.
The rickshaw halted in front of Midori's new house at Ginza. Midori, with a sigh of relief, dug into her purse and handed the driver a single Yen, the standard fare for a journey of this length.
"Here, Oji-san*."
Said rickshaw driver's eyes were trained on an eerie scene before him. He was so stunned that he did not notice the money Midori extended in his direction.
In front of Midori's house, four men faced each other, forming an unsettling circle. On first glance, people might assume that they were just friendly neighbors who exited their houses to engage in friendly banters with each other, possibly rejoicing about their new homes and vowing to be good friends who took care of each other.
