"Of course not!" Midori answered on the spot.
Instead of placating the man before her, her answer only made his eyes grow colder.
"I see. Just how many bedrooms do you have in this small house?"
Midori bit into her lower lip.
"Two."
"Aha. And two maids occupy one bedroom, leaving only one more behind. Is that not right?"
Midori clawed into her long kimono sleeves with both hands.
"That's right, but it's not what you think at all. Ryouichi-san isn't even here. He is gone for several days."
"Aha."
Kiyoshi reached out and took a strand of Midori's long hair. He wrapped it around his finger and gently pressed a kiss against its glossy surface.
