"It be just the water dripping," Jack reassured her. "But keep yer wits about ye."
They reached the point where the stones had collapsed, and Jack examined the rubble carefully. They managed to squeeze past the blockage, their movements slow to avoid dislodging any more stones.
"Be this it?" Jack inquired.
"Aye." Eleanor replied.
Beyond the collapse, the tunnel widened again, revealing a series of natural formations and a more expansive space.
Lyra, offering a heads-up, explained what might be hidden in the cave's labyrinth, "There are creatures beyond just bats and rats lurking here. The most prominent of them are screechers. They've got lairs scattered all through these tunnels."
"Tell us more," Jack urged.
"Hmm, I'm not sure if I recall correctly, but screechers are supposed to be deaf and weak to light," she replied.
"And the others?" Jack pressed.
