Amelia's POV
"Liah! What happened?" I heard my best friend, Camellia's voice as I emptied all contents of my stomach in the toilet.
Camellia grimaced at the sight still she rubbed my back gently as I puke my gut out. Flushing the toilet, I looked at my friend. She was looking at me worriedly.
"Don't worry, I'm fine now," I said in a calm voice. She sighed upon hearing that.
"Clean yourself, I will be outside." She said before leaving. I just nod my head.
I quickly cleaned my mouth and brushed my teeth. My throat was still sore from vomiting. I could still feel an awful taste in my mouth. After washing my face and changing my clothes which Camelia gave me, I went out
"You look better now," Camellia commented as soon as I stepped out of the washroom.
Sighing, I walked towards the couch and lay down closing my eyes. Damn, I'm feeling so tired. My whole body was aching badly.
"Liah! Are you okay?" I heard Camellia's voice, her voice was laced with concern. I opened my eyes and looked at her with a weak smile.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just feeling tired," I answered although my voice sounded weak.
"It doesn't seem so," she said standing near the couch while looking at me worriedly, "You look too tired and pale nowadays."
I sighed and sat down on the couch properly, "I don't know! Maybe because of the workload and all."
"What about vomiting? You are vomiting for the past three days."
"It's just a normal stomach problem," I replied.
"Liah, you and I have the same food. You're having an upset stomach when I'm absolutely fine. So, I think you should check with a doctor. Health comes first, you shouldn't ignore it." She said while pointing a finger at me.
"Okay, mom!" I said dramatically.
She chuckled at my antics, "You're lucky I'm a good friend. I have made soup for you. Drink it and take a rest. I will tell Celia that you're not well so you won't be coming to work."
"You are the best!" I exclaimed, smiling at her gratefully.
She just shrugged her shoulder nonchalantly. She picked up her bag and left bidding bye to me. I got up and took the soup bowl and sat down on the couch.
I switched on the TV and started drinking the soup while watching my favorite show, The Vampire Diaries.
I met Camellia eight years before when we were in college. We were roommates back then. We both clicked very quickly and become best friends. But now we're more like sisters. We also work in the same company but in different departments.
I yawned as my eyes become heavy, I put the soup bowl on the table and lay down on the couch properly.
Camellia is right, I should check with the doctor. But that can be done later, I need to sleep now.
As soon as, my head touched the soft cushion of the couch, sleep took over me.

"Huh, Sorry! But what did you ask?" I asked looking at the doctor unsure, thinking that maybe I heard something wrong.
I considered Camellia's suggestion and decided to come for a check-up. Even though I think it's just a normal stomach bug. Still, there wouldn't be any harm in checking.
The doctor again repeated her question, "I asked, when did you have your last period, Ms. Dawson?"
Period, well I tried to think when was the last time I had a period. Maybe two months before. Yeah, I had my last period two months before. My periods are usually irregular, so even if I want I can't keep track of my periods. Sometimes it happens after a month or two.
"I don't remember, maybe two months before. My periods are not that regular so I'm not sure." I answered after thinking for a while.
"Did you have sex recently?" she asked while writing something on her notepad.
"Pardon,"
The doctor sighed and again asked, "Did you have sex recently?"
"Do I have to answer—" The doctor narrowed her eyes at me, I gulped my saliva and answered meekly, "Yes."
Gosh! This is so embarrassing.
I know I'm not a virgin, however, I'm not that comfortable with such kind of question. It makes me feel awkward.
The doctor thought for a moment and started writing something on her notepad. Then she forwarded a paper to me, I took it in my hand.
"Take a test, even if you don't have a period regularly still you should check once that you're pregnant or not. I will tell the nurse, she will help you. Don't worry, it's just like a normal blood and urine test," The doctor explained before pressing the intercom.
Wait---what she did say? A pregnancy test.
I looked at the paper in my hand. Surely, I had sex two months ago but there's no way I would be pregnant. We had used a condom, right?
But I don't remember anything about that night. But what if we didn't use —No, I'm not pregnant...I can't be- but what if!
I brushed those thoughts out of my mind, maybe it was just a normal stomach problem. Nothing else.
I can't be pregnant..... I don't want to be pregnant.

I blinked my eyes once, twice... thrice but nothing changed. The results were still the same. Positive. 8 weeks.
I still couldn't believe whatever was written on the paper. How did it happen?
A baby is growing inside me. A baby, my baby. All those days I thought it was just a stomach bug, but I didn't have any idea that I was carrying a life inside me.
"Hey, Liah! What happened? Why are you sitting like this?" I heard Camellia's voice from the front door. I looked up at her as she shut the door and walked towards me.
I sighed and hand over the test result to her, she looked at me confusedly before taking the paper in her hand.
"What happened? Why are looking at me like this? Did something happen?" She asked as she sat on the opposite chair facing me.
"Yeah, a disaster," I muttered in a low voice, she looked at me with confusion. I sighed heavily and lay my head on the table.
"What are you saying? I'm not understanding anything," she said, confused.
"I'm pregnant."
