Chapter 3 - Book Pavilion

After Cheng Ying left Ye Feng in her room, she went to meet Ye Guo at his office. She sat on his lap, and the two started kissing each other passionately. Cheng Ying then said to Ye Guo, "Feng'er wants to learn how to read and write, Lord Husband." Ye Guo smiled happily when he heard that Ye Feng wanted to learn how to read and write. Ye Guo then looked at the maid who was serving him and Cheng Ying and said, "Summon elder Yun here and tell him I have a personal request I would like to ask of him." The maid bowed and left to complete her task.

When elder Yun arrived, Ye Guo told elder Yun that Ye Feng wanted to learn how to read and write. Elder Yun was surprised at what he was hearing. Ye Guo smiled and told the elder that he wanted the city's best teacher to teach his son. Elder Yun nodded his head and smiled. "Patriarch, rest at ease; I will hire the best teacher for the fifth young master myself." Ye Guo smiled and said, "Thank you, my friend. This means a lot to me." Elder Yun stood up and exited the room to complete Ye Guo's request.

__________

Next Day

In the morning, the teacher that elder Yun hired to teach Ye Feng how to read and write came to the Ye clan. The teacher was an old man who had a long gray beard and gray hair. He looked like he was 80 years old because of all the wrinkles on his face. The teacher's name is Chu De. He was the best teacher in Azure City. He is also very respected and renowned throughout the Hidden Dragon Kingdom.

Ye Feng spent 4 months learning how to read and write under Chu De's tutelage. Chu De was amazed at the speed at which Ye Feng was learning. He was convinced that Ye Feng was a genius, and he was proud that Ye Feng was his student. In those 4 months, Ye Feng spent his mornings learning how to read and write under Chu De's tutelage, and after his lessons with Chu De, he spent his time cultivating in the room that Cheng Ying provided for him. He only spends time with his family when they have meals together.

__________

Four Months Later

In the morning, Ye Guo summoned Ye Feng to his office. Ye Feng knocked on the office door, and he heard Ye Guo's voice say, "Come in." Ye Feng entered the office. When Ye Guo saw Ye Feng, he smiled at him. "Good to see you, son. How are you doing?" Ye Feng smiled at his father. "Your child is doing well, father." Ye Guo nodded with a smile. "The reason I called you here, Feng'er, was to reward your hard work. You learned how to read and write in a mere 4 months. You deserve a reward. Tell your father, What do you wish for my son?"

Ye Feng's eyes brightened up with joy, and, without hesitation, he answered Ye Guo. "I want permission to access the library, father." Ye Gou pondered for a moment before nodding. I'll grant you access to the library, but I'll limit your access to specific books. I forbid you from reading any other books. The guards will kick you out of the library if they see you reading the books I've forbidden. And I will punish you severely. "Did I make myself clear?" Ye Feng nodded. "I understand, father. "I will only read the books you allow me to read." Ye Guo smiled. "Good, you will be told which books you are allowed to read when you get there." Ye Feng nodded to his father with a smile on his face, and Ye Guo said, "You may leave Feng'er and enjoy your time in the library." Ye Feng nodded, and he left his father's office to go to the library.

__________

In the way to the library

Ye Feng started walking to the library. After 5 minutes of walking, he arrived in front of a silver-colored pagoda. The pagoda was very large, and Ye Feng marveled at its size. He looked like an ant in front of the pagoda. Two guards wearing green armor stood in front of the pagoda with a sword tied to their waists. A huge board hung above the gate, bearing the words "Book Pavilion." The writing displayed a sophisticated flair. Ye Feng entered the pagoda gate. The guards didn't react, allowing Ye Feng to enter the pagoda.

_______

Inside the Book Pavilion

After entering the "Book Pavilion," Ye Feng saw an old man wearing a brown robe. He had a long gray beard and gray hair. His face is full of wrinkles, and he has green eyes. When the old man saw Ye Feng entering, he smiled at Ye Feng and said, "Welcome, fifth young master." Ye Feng smiled at the old man. "Fifth, young master, you can only read books on this shelf." The old man pointed to a shelf of books in the library's left corner. Ye Feng nodded, walked towards the shelf, and started browsing through the books. When he saw the book's title, he smiled. The book title was "Cultivation in the Tian Yuan continent." Ye Feng took the book from the shelf to start reading.

"The human race primarily cultivates the Saint Force. Humans can use it in many different ways, such as protecting the body and reinforcing attacks, but they can also use different cultivation methods."

"After a Saint Force cultivator reaches the 10th Layer, they are able to condense all their Saint Force into a Saint Weapon. Afterwards, it becomes the source of the cultivator's power, releasing Saint Force while inside the body."

"In order to cultivate beyond the 9th layer and condense a saint weapon, the cultivators can't use the breathing exercise to breakthrough or condense a saint weapon. They will need to use a proper cultivation method."

"There are countless cultivation methods, but there are two main types of cultivation methods. There is a cultivation method that refines the body and another that relies on energy."

"In order to condense saint weapons, the cultivator uses an energy-based cultivation method."

"The Saint Weapons are considerably the strongest of the weapons on the Tian Yuan Continent. In a war, saint weapons could be freely summoned at will and provide assistance to their masters to help them overcome their limits."

"At the same time, a saint's weapon and its master's life were intertwined. The master would then receive an equal response to any injury the Saint Weapon sustained. Additionally, if the Saint Weapon ever broke, the master would receive a fatal wound. If the situation was grave, then even a wound may cause death."

"However, Saint Weapons was extremely difficult to break. The Saint Weapon will not suffer any harm as long as its strength surpasses that of the opposing force."

"Once the saint weapon takes shape, this new method of cultivation will absorb Qi from the world and become stronger. This method would also enhance one's own strength."

"Once the Saint Weapon is formed, the expert will be called a "Saint." Although all saints are strong, an increase in one's cultivation level means their strength will be worlds apart."

"Some people with an outstanding gift would receive a saint weapon with a special attribute. We classified these attributes as Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Light, and Dark. We rarely saw light and dark among these elements, yet they remained extremely powerful."

"On the Tian Yuan continent, the light element's healing power was so strong that those with light-attributed saint weapons earned the title of immortals. They were given this title due to the fact that, while on the battlefield, they could easily restore any damage taken. They would be nearly impossible to defeat on the battlefield if not killed in one strike."

"Dark elements were known for their corrosive nature. Not only was this a troublesome element, but those with dark attributes were also in demand. At night, they could come and go as they pleased, earning them the titles of Night Lords, for the night was under their command."

"The rest of the four elements each had their own corresponding strengths. Each individual's strength and judgment determined the amount of power they possessed. Of course, on the Tian Yuan continent, the proportion of individuals possessing a saint weapon with an attribute was 1 in 10, compared to those without such an attribute. On a battlefield, those with an attribute were often harder to fight against than those who didn't."

Ye Feng was shocked at what he had read so far, but he continued reading.

"Some energy-based cultivation methods don't focus on cultivating saint force; instead, they focus on cultivating other energies, such as spirit energy, Yuan energy, and so on. However, these kinds of cultivation methods are very rare to find."

"The body refinement cultivation method concentrates on enhancing the body's physical attributes. The body refinement cultivation method focuses on improving the body's muscles, bones, internal organs, and skin. This will improve the overall attack, defense, and speed of the cultivator."

After he finished reading the book, Ye Feng looked at the cover and was amazed at what he read. He then stood up and returned the book to the shelf. He started browsing for anything intriguing on the shelf and found a book with the title "Introduction to the Tian Yuan Continent."

"The Tian Yuan Continent is a vast continent with a land mass of a few dozen million kilometres."

"The Tian Yuan Continent It is home to the human race and its experts. This land is a place of both peace and carnage, with many areas filled with brutal infighting and war-torn locations. Technically, the Tian Yuan Continent has an astoundingly large population, with an even higher mortality rate for cultivators."

"In the Tian Yuan continent, the saints are classified into 8 different levels: saint, saint master, great saint master, earth saint master, heaven saint master, saint ruler, saint king, and saint emperor. Within each of the levels, they are further separated into 3 levels: lower, middle, and upper."

"The Tian Yuan continent, on the other hand, had a very prominent profession called mercenary. The Tian Yuan continent had many mercenaries. These mercenaries would complete a variety of tasks for money, but many would enter the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts to hunt monsters and sell the monster cores for money."

"Although the dangers were great, the rewards were just as generous due to the continent's high value for monster cores. The higher grade a monster core was, the more expensive it was. Money alone could not purchase some high-ranking monster cores."

"Monster cores were one of the continent's most sought-after items. Humans could absorb a large amount of pure energy from the center of a monster core to accelerate their cultivation speed. Ultimately, absorbing the energy from a monster core was faster than trying to absorb the world essence into one's body. However, using the monster cores to increase the cultivation speed wasn't a method the general populace could do without having plenty of money."

"Using a monster core to cultivate really did increase the cultivation rate by many times. Normally, when cultivating, one must slowly absorb the world essence before converting it into their own energy, a process that pales in comparison to the speed of a monster core. The natural Qi couldn't compare to the pure soul energy of a monster core; after all, the soul of a monster core was the purest part of the beast. Using the energy from a monster core, the speed of cultivation would increase by 10 times. For this reason, monster cores were extremely expensive, even if they were only a Class 1 monster core. The average person using the Magical Stone to cultivate would normally only increase the cultivation rate by two or three times. Even with a slight increase in power, the person's cultivation rate would only increase by six or seven times."

"On the Tian Yuan Continent, there are numerous countries of varying sizes and even more cities of all sizes."

"A city ruler ruled each of the largest cities, known as the capitals, which stretched over countless miles. Each ruler was also in charge of several to ten million guardian soldiers."

"However, a single strong empire controlled three of the seven capitals within the entire Tian Yuan Continent. Among the strongest empires were the Karl Empire and the Felicity Empire, both of which controlled two capitals each. It was the Holy Empire that controlled the first three capitals."

"King cities, located beneath the capitals, were significantly smaller than the capitals. Practically every kingdom had at the very least one king city, and each king city had a million guardian soldiers."

"The First Class Cities, which had 800,000 guardian soldiers, were located under the King Cities. The second-class cities had 400,000 guardian soldiers each. Under the Second Class Cities, there were a variety of villages, each with its own guardian soldiers, although their numbers did not exceed 50,000. Their strength and numbers also varied significantly."

"Throughout the Tian Yuan Continent, there are numerous small kingdoms that rule over mortals. They are usually led by kings with imperial advisors at Heaven Saint Master level, such as Zhuya Kingdom, Heavenly Eagle Kingdom, Dazhou Kingdom, and many other kingdoms."

Once Ye Feng had completed reading the book, he put it back on the shelf and left the "Book Pavilion." Ye Feng thought, "Interesting, I need to read more about the Tian Yuan continent." Once he made his decision, Ye Feng went back to his room to continue his cultivation.
