"No," I said firmly, causing the paladin to widen her eyes in shock, "I am not about to risk you nor this quest just so you could enact vengeance on a creature that does not care either way."
She was not expecting a firm denial. To her credit, she did not hesitate to try and persuade me to consider otherwise.
"You don't understand!" The tone of her voice reflected the sheer grief she was feeling at this moment, her remaining composure standing on the mere hope that I would change my mind.
"I don't?" I replied, sounding dismissive, "Then make me understand. Why?"
"Her soul will not rest until I had righted this wrong and given her a proper burial!" She explained, but it was not enough. Not a good enough explanation. Not a good enough excuse or reason.
