Our battle continued in earnest and it shook not just the very ground on which we fought but made the entire land itself tremble and quake. Craters big and small pitted the ground while cracks and canyons split the soil. I battled the abomination blow for blow, sending out spell after spell alongside fierce swings of my sword.
The abomination had powered up. Though it was injured badly beyond quick relief, it stood its ground and proved itself capable of dragging this out. The black sphere of corrupted, vile energy that surrounded the abomination proved to be an annoyance. It was a concentration of power, a physical manifestation of whatever twisted ability the abomination had.
Every attack it struck against me was done so with intensity that rivaled that of an erupting volcano. I knew the sphere of black energy was enhancing the abomination's attacks and shielding it from my deadliest strikes.
