Sitting in her own bed in her room, Amay let out a frustrated sigh as she let her clawed finger tap her shoulder. Multiple thoughts ran through her mind to the point she felt her own head start to hurt. She replayed Elizabeth words in her mind and tried to find arguments in it, but each counter she thought of came up empty as she felt deep down Elizabeth was right. Yet, she couldn't expect it. Whether it was because of her own emotions or the fact she felt she failed herself when it came to trying to protect him.
"I'm still weak and I couldn't do anything to save him," She told herself as she closed her eyes. Taking a slow inhale before exhaling, her face went from a scowling to worry and sadness. "If only I was stronger."
"If you had listened to me back in the woods, you would have dealt with her with no issues."
The voice finally spoke up as she manifesting herself from Amay's very shadow. Standing taller then Amay herself and covered in the vail of shadows that was even darker then the shadows around her, Amay's other made herself know. Her blood red eyes burned like flames on her face as she glided slowly across the room. She scanned the different items Amay placed throughout her room as she was finally able to move in the shade.
"So is the consequences of one's actions, I suppose," The other said as she tried to touch the bear that rested on Amay's dresser. Although her fingers slipped through it, she liked the idea of touching different things. "And to find out she's staying in this very house as well, must be getting under your skin. I know it would mine."
"What are you trying to getting at?" Amay asked as she didn't even look at her wondering guest.
"Nothing child, just pointing out is all." The other said with a slight giggle. "Go on. Tell me what's on your mind. I want to hear them."
"Why? You already know what they are." Amay annoyingly told her as she felt her move around the room. She then heard her other giggle again.
"I know. But hearing them makes this conversation more engaging for the both of us." The shadow answered before stopping in front of a mirror to look at her own ghostly body. She watched herself carefully as the barely visible line that would be her mouth opened to reveal an ocean of red as she switched it to a smirk.
A defeated sigh escaped Amay's mouth while she shook her head begrudgingly as she started.
"Lizzy wants her to stay here in an attempt to see if there's more information from her. She thinks there's a chance to figure out if her being here would stop the attacks or at least slow them down before they get worse." Amay paraphrased before cringing from her others laughter.
"And you think that's a good idea?" She mockingly asked. "So, that little spider will be allowed to roam in her domain, free of the things she did. Allowing her to attack your male, and even you again....interesting."
"It's not like that. Lizzy will not allow her to do that." Amay answer sternly.
"Is that doubt I taste?" The shadow asked while snapping her head towards her host. "It's not a matter of "If", child but "When". How long do you think it will take before she tries to attack you, child? Or if she decides to-"
" She will not touch him," Amay interrupted and snarled at her for even thinking it. Her head snapped up towards the shadow making direct eye contact with her.
"He's mine." She hissed as her pupils became thin like vipers as her blood-red irises pulsated with a ruby glow.
For a brief moment they stared at each other intensely. Amay showing her seriousness, while her other just creepily smiled at her with the same eyes.
"He's...mine.." Amay repeated. "I will kill her if she even thinks about touching him."
"Oh?" The shadow asked slightly tilting her head. "And how will you do that if you're not strong enough?"
As she said this, Amay watched as her other extended out a hand towards her. She looked down at it for a moment and thought about it. Yet turned away.
"I can't," Amay told her as she felt fear and her own memories push forward.
"You can't or you won't, child!" The shadow asked. " You know my power is the only way you stand a chance against her. You know she will strike at some point, so why not stop it before it happens."
For a moment, Amay thought about it. She honestly weighted her options. She knew Ida wouldn't change and go back to terrorizing them when she finds an opening. She also knew Elizabeth can only do so much at a time.
"With a solution right in front of me. I could end it and won't have to deal with her again," Amay swallowed as she thought about it. Then her mind replayed the day Ida put her hands on Lucas, and she did nothing but watch him get assaulted by her. Slowly she raised a shaking arm towards the open hand. Her fingers retracted as she felt her doubts try to stop her before they tried to make contact.
Yet, the shadow was the one to take her hand away from Amay. She then vanished from Amay back into her shadow. Just when a soft knock came from Amay's door.
A sigh of relief and guilt flooded Amay's body as she was saved by the bell. She kicked herself for almost agreeing to take the deal with her other. Yet, couldn't help but think she was right.
A soft knock came to Amay's door again as she shook her head and yelled out.
"Give me a sec. Here I come." She said trying to straighten herself up before going to answer it.
As the door slowly creaked open, a wave of relief washed over Amay as she looked in the face of the one person she could trust in all this mess.
"Hey." Lucas opened. He wasn't too sure if she was still upset, so he wanted to gage her emotions. He was more surprised that she actually came to the door as well.
"Hey." Amay answered back opening her door a little more for him.
A long second passed, before Lucas finally broke the ice.
"I was just came to check on you. I know a lot happened in the last hour or so, but I wanted to ask how you are doing?" He stumbled on his words before finally getting what he wanted out.
Lucas watched as Amay sighed and looked away for a moment. He watched her eyes looked down before forcing back on him.
"I'm upset and rightly annoyed with Lizzy's decision with coming to us first..."Amay truthful answered before pausing. She could feel herself wanting to tell him what she almost did, but chose to keep that away. She then exhaled as she found herself swallowing her pride a but. "But it's probably the best idea for the situation at hand."
Even though she spoke truthfully on it, the words still left a bad taste in her mouth. The side of her mouth twitched and frowned before she shook her head and bit her tongue on saying more.
"Yeah. That's kinda how I'm thinking on it." Lucas let out a nervous chuckle as he felt the same way a bit. He then stopped as his smile faded. "Amay? How come it doesn't feel right?"
His words caused Amay to look up at him and even tilt her head a bit.
"Like I know says she will do her best to make sure nothing happens and keep her away from us, but I still feel like this all could have been avoided if I let you...take her out. Maybe none of this would have happened if I was stronger."
Lucas spoke openly to her. He felt like she was the only one he could talk to without being judged and could relate to at the moment. He felt his eyes become heavy as guilt began to eat at his conscience.
"This is all my-"
Before he could finish his sentence or self-pity thoughts, Lucas felt a light pop against his forehead. While it wasn't a painful pop, it mostly caught him off guard. His eyes then focus on the slinder and small hand that pulled away.
"You can't blame yourself for things you had no control of." Amay told him as she placed a hand on her hip. "You and I both know we were under prepared for Ida. And while your idea was stupid, you did way better then you give yourself credit for. Also you stood for what you believed in. That's very respectable."
A small smile formed on Amay's face, as she thought back to when he saved her and refused to leave her side. And while, she hated what Ida did to him and sparing her, she appreciated him standing in to tell her she didn't have to drop to her level and be a monster.
"While not physically there, you are a lot stronger then you think you are." Amay told him while looking deep in his eyes. "As for this situation and Ida, I honestly don't know. But Lizzy always keeps to her word. So I will follow it for the moment."
"Geez. Even your finger flicks hurt like hell," Lucas trailed off as he kept rubbing the spot. "Thank you, Amay. That means a lot. But I want you to know you're not alone in this as well. I will do my best to keep you safe and if you ever need someone to talk to I'm here for you too."
Amay's eyes went wide for a second, but her face rested as a soft smile formed. "Thank you."
Before she knew it, Lucas had used that brief second and got his revenge. Putting some force behind his finger, Lucas flicked Amay in her forehead as well.
"Ouch!" Amay let out as she covered her own forehead from the hit. "Bitch!" She let out without realizing she switched to her native tongue.
Her eyes squinted at Lucas who started chuckling at her. So she pinched him.
"Ouch. Why you-" Lucas said before pinching her back.
"Ouch. Cut it out!" Amay said feeling the pain, but started to giggle a bit. She then pinched his arm.
"You the one that started this," He retorted as he pinched her cheek. A smile started to for on his face. He then took a step back as Amay reached out to strike again. "Nope. Let's settle this like proper adults. In a 1 on 1 fight...on the game."
"You're on!" Amay said flashing a sharp toothy smile at Lucas. "But don't go crying to your mommy when you loss, "King Kong"."
"Hey. I'm not the one that cheated last time." Lucas said back as he took off to his room with Amay quickly following behind.
