Clary pondered, so that's his name.
"Carlos, I'm sure you've recovered. If it weren't for me, you might have died earlier," Clary said.
Clary didn't hear Carlos's voice anymore. Was he asleep again? Clary turned and found Carlos with his eyes closed. Clary started to get annoyed. Her gaze fell on the pendant around his neck.
The pendant was almost identical to the one she bought from an old lady on the street who sold various accessories six years ago. (P.S.: Clary's pendant is the one in white in the picture above.)
"Hey, wake up and tell me where my sister is," Clary said as she shook Carlos's body for the umpteenth time.
Carlos remained still. Clary sighed in frustration. She wanted to leave the man in front of her. However, Clary didn't want to lose information about the whereabouts of her sister.
Clary could only stay silent while gazing at the man in front of her. She was the one wearing clothes. Wasn't he cold? Even though Clary was fully dressed, she still felt the cold air penetrating her skin. In this situation, Clary had no choice but to wait for the man in front of her to wake up.
The day had turned dark again, and Clary saw no movement from Carlos at all. Did werewolves sleep for so long?
The darkness of the night made Clary turn on her flashlight for illumination. Clary couldn't make a fire at all. During her school days, she rarely participated in activities like camping.
Clary had just realized how eerie the forest was at night. She rubbed her hands on her upper arms.
Now, only the singing of insects could be heard. Clary heard something from the bushes. Were there bushes around here? Clary scanned her surroundings. Yes, she saw tall wild grass. She aimed her flashlight at the tall grass but saw no movement.
"Run," Carlos suddenly said.
Clary felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest when she heard Carlos's voice suddenly.
"What do you mean?" Clary asked, confused.
"Run quickly," Carlos said.
Clary seemed to ponder for a moment.
"You suddenly woke up, even though I've been trying to wake you up for a while, and you wouldn't wake up," Clary said in annoyance.
"I said run, Clary," Carlos said again.
Clary felt like she couldn't refuse. She got up and grabbed her flashlight, then started running away. However, Clary didn't get too far from where Carlos was. Clary thought that Carlos intended to run away after what she had done.
Clary couldn't just let Carlos go like that, not until she found her sister, Betty.
Once she was sure that Carlos couldn't see her anymore, Clary secretly returned to where she had been. Clary walked slowly and hid behind large trees that could cover her.
Clary peeked around and didn't see Carlos. Instead, she saw a pack of wolves. It seemed Carlos had transformed. Deep down, Clary was afraid of creatures like Carlos. However, she needed to use Carlos to find Betty and overcome her fear.
Clary took a deep breath and exhaled quietly so the wolves wouldn't hear her. She saw some of the wolves chatting.
Clary noticed that the white-furred wolf was looking in her direction. Clary quickly hid to avoid being spotted behind the tree. When Clary turned around, there was a black-furred wolf waiting for her. Clary was startled when she realized there was a wolf behind her.
The wolf approached Clary. However, it seemed the white-furred wolf ran to block the black one. Clary was a little confused by the situation. The two wolves seemed to be having a conversation. After that, Clary saw the black wolf turn and walk away. She also noticed the rest of the wolf pack following the black wolf.
Clary then saw Carlos back in front of her. Carlos was the white-furred wolf with black markings around his eyes and nose. It seemed Carlos had returned to his human form.
"I told you to run, but why are you still here?" Carlos asked.
Clary rolled her eyes lazily.
"Do you think I'm stupid? Don't hope to escape from me. You have to tell me where they've taken my sister first," Clary said.
"You know it was dangerous earlier," Carlos said.
"Weren't you planning to kill me at first?" Clary said.
Carlos fell silent for a moment.
"Go to the south forest; their base is there," Carlos said.
Clary saw Carlos walking away. Clary ran after him.
"You have to escort me," Clary said.
"Up to you," Carlos said, continuing to walk.
Clary was unsure of what else to say. She just followed Carlos as he walked ahead. Sometimes Clary struggled to keep up with Carlos's fast pace. Occasionally, Clary ran to avoid falling behind.
"Can't you slow down? I can't walk that fast," Clary said.
"I'm doing it on purpose," Carlos said.
Clary raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What did you say?" Clary asked.
"I'm doing it on purpose," Carlos repeated.
"Why?" Clary asked.
"I don't want you to follow me," Carlos said.
Clary fell silent for a moment. "What?"
"I told you not to show up in front of me again," Carlos said.
"But if I hadn't shown up in front of you, you might have died," Clary said.
Carlos didn't respond.
"I can't get to the cabin if I have to bring you with me," Carlos said.
"In that case, just take me to the south forest first, leave me there, and you can go back to your cabin," Clary suggested.
Carlos didn't respond and continued walking.
Clary eventually continued to follow Carlos wherever he went. Eventually, they arrived at a large house in the middle of the forest. Clary was surprised to find such a house in the middle of the forest.
Carlos still didn't speak. Clary was increasingly puzzled.
"Where are we?" Clary asked.
"My house," Carlos said.
Clary was slightly surprised.
"So, I'm at your cabin?" Clary asked.
"No, my cabin is not here. You're just taking shelter here. I'll be back soon," Carlos said, opening the door to his house.
Clary entered the house and looked around. The house was old, and most of the interior was made of wood. Clary entered a room and put her bag down. She noticed there was a bathroom inside. She immediately smiled with joy.
She went straight into the bathroom and took a shower. She turned on the shower and looked around. There was no soap or shampoo in there. It seemed werewolves only used water for bathing. She hadn't brought soap or anything with her, so she had to clean herself with just water.
After finishing, she saw some towels in there. She grabbed one and wrapped it around her body. Clary then left the bathroom and opened her bag to search for her clothes.
Unfortunately, it seemed she couldn't find anything in there except the flashlight and her underwear. It wasn't possible for Clary to wear just her underwear in this house. Clary noticed a wardrobe nearby. It seemed like she could borrow some clothes from there.
She opened it and saw several oversized clothes that were clearly too big for her. However, she didn't really mind and immediately took one of the clothes and put it on. Clary also noticed several pairs of pants that were obviously much too large for her. She decided to wash her clothes first before putting them back on.
Clary began to feel drowsy. She had just remembered that she hadn't slept all day yesterday. She lay down on the bed in the room. It felt very comfortable, and she soon fell asleep.
Clary slowly opened her eyes and got up. She had slept through the night. She got up and was about to head to the bathroom. Clary noticed that the bathroom door was closed, and she could hear the sound of running water. It seemed someone was showering inside.
Clary waited in front of the bathroom door. It seemed that the sound of running water had stopped, indicating that the person inside had finished their shower.
When the door opened, Clary's eyes widened when she saw Carlos standing in front of her with only a towel wrapped around his waist. Clary swallowed hard for a moment.
"Do you want breakfast?" Carlos asked.
"I-I..." Clary stuttered as she realized how close she and Carlos were.
Carlos gave her a sly smile.
"You know, the human in front of me looks quite dangerous now," Carlos said while looking at Clary's exposed thigh due to her oversized clothing.
Clary felt her cheeks flush.
"I'll find something for you," Carlos said.
Carlos left while Clary breathed a sigh of relief as he walked away. Clary felt like she was melting when she saw Carlos earlier.
