Sico sat down at his desk, the weight of the mission pressing heavily on his shoulders. He knew the risks, but he also knew what was at stake. The Institute had made their move, and now it was time for the Minutemen to respond. They would do whatever it took to protect Diamond City and the people who called it home.

Sico had just settled into his office, the weight of the mission pressing heavily on his mind, when a sharp knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts. He looked up to see Robert standing in the doorway, his expression serious but determined. Behind him, MacCready leaned against the frame, his rifle slung casually over his shoulder, though his sharp eyes betrayed the intensity of his focus.

"General," Robert said, his voice steady but urgent. "We've finalized the plan for the Commandos. MacCready and I will lead the teams in first. We'll move in stealth, disguised as traders. It's the best way to get into Diamond City without raising suspicion."

Sico stood, his chair scraping against the floor as he rounded the desk. "Disguised as traders?" he repeated, his brow furrowed. "That's risky. If anyone recognizes you—"

"They won't," MacCready interrupted, his tone confident. "We've got the gear and the cover story. We'll blend in with the usual crowd coming in and out of the city. Once we're inside, we'll make our way to the Colonial Taphouse and set up shop. From there, we'll coordinate with Piper's contacts and prepare for the main force."

Sico studied them for a moment, his mind racing. The plan was bold, but it made sense. The Commandos were trained for this kind of operation, and Robert and MacCready were two of the most capable leaders he had. Still, the risks were significant. If they were caught, the entire mission could fall apart before it even began.

"Alright," Sico said finally, his voice firm. "But you need to be careful. If anything goes wrong, pull back immediately. We can't afford to lose you or the Commandos."

Robert nodded, his expression resolute. "Understood, General. We'll keep a low profile and stay in contact. If anything changes, you'll be the first to know."

MacCready smirked, his tone dry. "Don't worry, Sico. We've got this. Just make sure the main force is ready to back us up when the time comes."

Sico gave them a small nod, his tone appreciative. "I will. Good luck out there."

With that, Robert and MacCready turned and left the office, their footsteps echoing down the hallway. Sico watched them go, a sense of unease settling in his chest. The Commandos were a formidable force, but the stakes were higher than ever. He knew he couldn't afford to sit back and wait. He needed to see them off personally.

---

Sico made his way to the gate bridge of Sanctuary, the cool night air biting at his skin as he approached. The Commandos were gathered near the entrance, their gear packed and ready to go. Robert and MacCready stood at the front, their voices carrying over the low murmur of the group as they gave final instructions.

"Remember," Robert said, his tone firm but calm. "We're traders, not soldiers. Keep your weapons hidden and your heads down. Once we're inside Diamond City, we'll regroup at the Colonial Taphouse. From there, we'll move on McDonough when the time is right."

MacCready stepped forward, his sharp eyes scanning the group. "Stay sharp, but don't draw attention. If anyone asks, we're just here to sell goods. Keep your stories straight, and don't engage unless absolutely necessary. Understood?"

The Commandos nodded in unison, their expressions serious but determined. They were a disciplined group, trained to operate in the most hostile environments. Sico felt a flicker of pride as he watched them, knowing they were the best of the best.

Preston and Sarah stood nearby, their arms crossed as they observed the scene. Preston's expression was thoughtful, his gaze fixed on the Commandos as they prepared to move out. Sarah, ever the pragmatist, was scanning the group with a critical eye, her sharp mind already working through potential scenarios.

Sico approached them, his boots crunching softly against the gravel. "They're ready," he said, his voice low but steady. "Robert and MacCready will lead them in. They'll be at the Colonial Taphouse by dawn."

Preston nodded, his tone appreciative. "They're in good hands. Robert and MacCready know what they're doing."

Sarah crossed her arms, her expression thoughtful. "Let's just hope they can keep a low profile. If McDonough gets wind of this, it's game over."

Sico glanced at her, his brow furrowed. "We'll have to trust them. They've handled worse before."

Sarah gave him a small nod, her tone serious. "I know. But this is different. The Institute's involved, and they don't play fair."

Sico exhaled slowly, his gaze drifting back to the Commandos. "We'll be ready. Once they're in position, we'll move in with the main force."

Preston straightened, his expression resolute. "Speaking of which, when do we march?"

Sico turned to him, his tone firm. "What's the status on the main force?"

Preston crossed his arms, his voice steady. "We'll be ready by tomorrow morning. The troops are prepped, and the supplies are loaded. Once the Commandos give the signal, we'll move in."

Sico nodded, his mind already shifting to the next steps of the plan. "Good. We'll need to move quickly once we're inside the city. The longer we wait, the greater the risk of exposure."

Sarah stepped forward, her tone brisk but confident. "I've got the logistics covered. The trucks and Humvees are ready to go, and the scouts are on standby. We'll have eyes on the perimeter as soon as we move out."

Sico gave her a small nod, his tone appreciative. "Good work, Sarah. We'll need every advantage we can get."

Preston glanced at the Commandos, his expression thoughtful. "What's the plan once we're inside Diamond City? If the security guards are compromised, we'll need to neutralize them quickly."

Sico's jaw tightened, his mind racing. "We'll focus on securing key locations first—the power grid, the security headquarters, and McDonough's office. If the guards resist, we'll take them out, but we'll do everything we can to minimize collateral damage."

Sarah nodded, her tone serious. "We've got non-lethal options ready, but we're not taking any chances. If the guards are working with the Institute, we'll have no choice but to engage."

Preston exhaled slowly, his expression grim. "It's a risky move, but we don't have a choice. If Diamond City falls to the Institute, it's not just the city that's at risk—it's the entire Commonwealth."

Sico met his gaze, his tone firm. "We'll do whatever it takes to protect Diamond City and its people. But we'll do it the right way."

The three of them stood in silence for a moment, the weight of the mission pressing heavily on their shoulders. The road ahead would be dangerous, but they knew they had no other choice. The Institute had made their move, and now it was time for the Minutemen to respond.

---

As the Commandos began to move out, Sico watched them go, a sense of unease settling in his chest. Robert and MacCready led the way, their movements smooth and deliberate as they disappeared into the darkness. The rest of the Commandos followed, their figures blending into the shadows as they made their way toward Diamond City.

Preston and Sarah stood beside Sico, their expressions resolute as they watched the group depart. "They'll get the job done," Preston said, his voice steady. "They always do."

Sarah crossed her arms, her tone serious. "Let's just hope it's enough. If the Institute's involved, we're in for a fight."

Sico nodded, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "We'll be ready. Once the Commandos are in position, we'll move in with the main force. Diamond City won't fall to the Institute—not on our watch."

With that, the three of them turned and made their way back to the HQ, their minds already shifting to the next steps of the plan. The Commandos were on their way, and the main force would follow soon after. The road ahead would be dangerous, but Sico knew they had no other choice.

The first rays of dawn crept through the cracks in the blinds of Sico's office, painting long slashes of light across his desk. He hadn't slept much—none of them had. Too much was at stake. Too much could go wrong. But now, the waiting was over. The radio on his desk crackled to life, its static filling the silence.

"This is Robert," came the hushed but steady voice. "We're in."

Sico leaned forward, grabbing the receiver. "You reached the Taphouse?"

"Affirmative," Robert confirmed. "No trouble getting through the gates. We stuck to the plan—acted like traders, kept our weapons out of sight. The guards barely looked at us. MacCready's already working on setting up shop as our cover. We should be able to operate from here without raising too many eyebrows."

Sico exhaled, letting some of the tension drain from his body. This was the first major hurdle, and they had cleared it.

"Good work," he said. "Now listen, we need to secure some high ground. I want snipers in place before we make our move. The Colonial Taphouse has a view of the market, but it's not enough. We need eyes on the security office, the power grid, and—most importantly—McDonough's place."

There was a brief pause on the other end before Robert responded. "Understood. There are a few good spots—the upper floors of the mayor's office, the Science Center, and that old bar near the stadium wall. We'll get some of our best shots in place and keep the rest on standby."

"Good. Make sure they stay out of sight. If the Institute's watching, I don't want them getting spooked."

"We'll be ghosts, General," Robert assured him. "I'll check in once we're set up."

"Stay sharp."

The radio cut out with a soft click, leaving only the hum of morning quiet in its wake. Sico sat back, running a hand down his face. The first stage was complete, but the hard part was still ahead. They had infiltrated Diamond City—but now they had to hold it.

**---**

Sico pushed himself up from his chair, his muscles protesting from the long night of planning and waiting. He grabbed his coat from the back of his chair and shrugged it on, the familiar weight settling over his shoulders. Time to move.

Stepping out into the hallway, he found a few Minutemen already up and about, gearing up for the day ahead. Some were loading ammunition into magazines, others were checking their weapons or quietly discussing strategy. The air was thick with unspoken tension—the kind that always settled in before a battle.

He made his way outside, the crisp morning air biting against his skin. The sun was barely over the horizon, casting long shadows across Sanctuary's streets. He found Preston and Sarah near one of the supply tents, looking over maps spread across a makeshift table.

Preston glanced up first, his sharp eyes immediately scanning Sico's face for any sign of news. "What's the word?"

Sico didn't waste time. "Robert and MacCready made it in. They've regrouped at the Taphouse, and they're setting up sniper positions now."

Preston let out a slow breath, nodding. "That's a damn good start."

Sarah, who had been quietly studying the map, finally looked up. "How's security inside the city?"

Sico crossed his arms. "So far, they haven't raised any alarms. The guards didn't give Robert's team any trouble at the gate. But that doesn't mean we're in the clear. If McDonough gets even a whiff of this, he'll lock the city down before we can act."

Sarah tapped a spot on the map. "Then we have to move fast. Once the snipers are in place, we should send scouts closer to the gates. If McDonough tries to reinforce the city, we need to cut him off before he can bring in outside help."

Sico nodded. "Agreed. We'll position our people near the entrance, but we won't engage unless we have to. Our priority is getting inside with as little resistance as possible."

Preston exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. "We should also be ready for the people inside. Most of Diamond City doesn't know what's coming, and we don't want them caught in the crossfire."

Sarah frowned, arms still crossed. "You think they'll resist?"

Preston shook his head. "Not most of them. But there are people loyal to McDonough—especially the ones who've been benefiting from his rule. If they decide to fight for him, things could get messy fast."

Sico looked between them, weighing their concerns. "Then we make this as precise as possible. We take McDonough, secure the power grid, and hold the security office before word spreads too far. If we control the city's infrastructure, we control the city."

Sarah let out a small breath, her sharp mind already working through the logistics. "It's a solid plan. We'll just have to execute it perfectly."

Sico smirked. "When do we ever do things perfectly?"

That earned him a small chuckle from both of them, though the tension still lingered. They all knew what was at stake.

**---**

As the morning wore on, preparations continued at a steady pace. The Minutemen forces were assembling, double-checking their gear and getting ready to move out at a moment's notice. Scouts were dispatched toward the outskirts of Diamond City, keeping an eye on the city's defenses and any unusual movements.

Sico remained near the main staging area, keeping an ear on the radio while helping coordinate supplies and final checks.

Another transmission from Robert came through a few hours later. "General, snipers are in position. We've got a clean view of all the key locations. MacCready's setting up overwatch near the power grid, and I've got two more guys covering the mayor's office."

Sico tightened his grip on the radio. "Good. Any sign that they suspect something?"

"None so far," Robert replied. "McDonough's been in his office all morning. Security's doing their usual rounds, nothing out of the ordinary. Either they don't know what's coming, or they think they're untouchable."

Sico smirked. "They won't be for long. Hold position and stay out of sight. We're moving soon."

"Copy that. We'll be ready."

As the transmission ended, Sico turned back to Preston and Sarah. "It's time."

Sarah nodded, her jaw set. "Then let's not waste it."

Preston adjusted his rifle strap. "I'll get the men ready to move."

Sico exhaled slowly, glancing toward the horizon. Diamond City stood in the distance, bathed in morning light. The battle hadn't begun yet—but the pieces were in place. And soon, McDonough would fall.
