The crimson red moon made the night sky even more terrifying for Damian, it was probably going to be his last night.... His life had been nothing but pain and hardship as an orphan but yet he clinged on to life like a child clinging to his mother's dress.
"What's a monster don't doing in this side of the mountains, I don't understand!" Damian screamed as he stared at the black furred cat, it was probably a shadow cat and from the stories he's heard, his escape is impossible.
"Damn it!" Damian found himself unable to move as the Shadow cat had already used it's special skill the Shadow paralysis a skill that paralyzes the Shadow of it's target thereby making it's prey unable to move.
The cat slashed Damian with it's three inches claw which sent him crashing towards the ground. He couldn't scream nor cry as he was currently at the top of the mountains which was far from the village.
His screams would prove useless in his situation as well as his tears, all he could do was embrace death and wait for the ride to the afterlife.
The cat took a bite from the guts of Damian swallowing a huge chunk of flesh, the lights in His eyes slowly faded as well as his life force.
*Explode*
[Three days later]
Somwhere in a remote forest there was a portion that one could call a Paradise. It's crystal clear lake, the beautiful flower garden, the gentle nature of the wildlife everything was perfect.
Amidst all that was a wooden house, it was neither shabby not overly glamorous. There was a man walking into the house with a wooden box on his hand.
"You're awake!" The man said to a silver haired kid who was covered in bandage sitting on a bed.
"Where am I?" The boy asked the man with a low voice, the man took some time to observe the kid before saying something.
"What's your name kid?"
"My name...My name is Damian" The silver haired kid replied with an unsure voice as if his memory was fuzzy.
"my name is Argus and I found you laying in the floor in the mountains, you were badly wounded so I brought you to my home to treat you, it's strange though you were supposed to be unconscious for at least two weeks!"
"How many days have I been unconscious?" Damian asked with a low voice as he placed his hands over his abdomen, there was a sharp pain coming from his stomach.
"Don't stress yourself, you've not fully recovered, it's been three days since I brought you here, you must be hungry I'll prepare something for you!" Argus said as he placed the wooden box on the table and walked towards the stove and with a snap of his finger the stove automatically lit up.
"Magic! That's magic!" Damian whispered to himself in amazement. "Don't be amazed it's just low level magic!" Argus said as he placed a pot on the stove before putting in some ingredients.
The amazement on Damian's face never left as he just stared at the flame with curiosity. "This world is a magical one, the sight of magic is not uncommon you shouldn't at least have seen a mage before." Argus concluded but was surprised to see Damian shake his head in disagreement.
"It's pretty dangerous, it could be for the best, not all mage are good, magic is a thing not ment for humanity."
*****
Argus and Damian sat opposite each other on tge dinning table, dian couldn't help but stare at the food in front of him, but after taking his first bite he felt rejuvenated, it was a pleasant sensation and he couldn't quite make sense of what it was.
"It's the magical properties of the ingredients, the dragon meat has the ability to strengthen and recover mana, the herbs also has healing and recovering ability as well as the water it has the ability to strengthen the physical body." Argus explained but Damian was shocked beyond his imaginations.
"I'm sorry but did you say dragon meat?" Damian asked with a voice of uncertainty.
" Oh yes, dragon meat os high quality so I take that time to hunt one every week!" Argus said with a mouthful of dragon meat.
"but dragons are like one of the strongest monsters, it's super big and scary."
"indeed, but with the right level of magic you could take them down."
*Bang*
" Why are graveling, it's not good to prostrate your self to people!" Argus said as he was surprised to see Damian prostrating himself In front of him.
"Please! Take me as an apprentice!" Damian pleaded with Argus, magic was a thing Damian fantasized over, he always wanted to learn it, but as a lowly orphan no mage would even spare him a look.
" He's not answering, am I asking too much, I'm truly selfish, I haven't even thanked him for saving my life now I'm asking him to teach me magic, I'm sure he's going to say no and ask me to leave" Damian cursed himself as he thought how stupid he was but the reply he heard was something that almost gave him an heart attack.
"Okay, finish your food and meet me outside." Argus said as he left the house, Damian looked as if he was strucked by lightning, his heartbeat could've heard from a mile away.
"He agreed, finally....I can become a mage and live a comfortable life in the village no in the city...Yes, my life is about to change." Damian spared no time in devouring his food as he quickly cleared the table and dashed outside only to meet Argus feeding a silver furred lion with wings.
" it's my familiar, the silver lion king." Argus said as he turned to look at Damian. "Now listen very well, I hate taking in apprentice, I easily get frustrated so I hope you're a fast learner of not you can go back to your mountains."Argus said with a cold voice which made Damian fall to his knees.
" I...I'll t_try my best!" Damian stuttered as he felt fear for no reason. "Good! Now to use magic, you must understandtge basics mana, mana is the fuel for using magic and until you learn how to release mana you're waisting your time, now listen to my instruction and do what I tell you. Close your eyes, focuc on a dark empty space with a single bright light shining at the center of that space, channel your focus on that light and try to reach at it, feel the light flowing through you like water, then channel that water to your surroundings!" Argus instructed as Damian focussed on his words.
" I need to so this or my only hope is gone forever, yes that's it... I can feel the light flowing through me..now all I have to do is channel it to my surroundings."
" Impressive, open your eyes and see your progress"
" what's this light coming out from my body?" Damian asked upon seeing the blue green light flowing out of his body.
" that my friend is mana and by the lookso it you have talent, maybe you might turn out to be a great apprentice after all."
" I can't believe this is actually happening, it might turn out to be A twist in fate for me.!"
