Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

The next morning dawned with a sense of anticipation hanging thick in the air of the warehouse. The Nightstalkers and their newfound allies gathered once again, their expressions a mixture of determination and trepidation as they prepared to confront Dominic and Marco once more.

As the morning light filtered through the dusty windows of the warehouse, casting long shadows across the concrete floor, the Nightstalkers gathered once more around the makeshift table, their expressions tense as they prepared to question Dominic and Marco once again.

Mia took the lead this time, her voice firm yet gentle as she broached the delicate topic. "We need to understand where you two came from," she began, her gaze steady as she locked eyes with Dominic and Marco. "Where are your parents? Why were you out on the streets at the time of the conflict?"

Dominic shifted uncomfortably under Mia's probing gaze, his mind racing as he struggled to concoct a plausible explanation. "Our parents... they're not around," he replied evasively, his tone guarded. "We're on our own."

But Marco, ever defiant, bristled at Mia's questions, his temper flaring as he shot to his feet, his fists clenched at his sides. "Why do you care?" he snapped, his voice tinged with anger. "It's none of your business!"

Mia recoiled slightly at Marco's outburst, her brow furrowing with concern. "We're just trying to help," she explained calmly, her tone soothing yet firm. "But we need to understand the full picture if we're going to do that."

But Marco was not appeased, his anger boiling over as he turned his fury on the Nightstalkers. "You think you're better than us, don't you?" he spat, his voice thick with resentment. "You think you can just waltz in here and ask us whatever you want?"

Before anyone could respond, Dominic stepped forward, his expression a mixture of frustration and concern. "Marco, enough," he warned, his voice low and urgent. "We need their help, whether you like it or not."

But Marco would not be swayed, his pride wounded and his defiance unyielding. With a sudden burst of anger, Dominic lashed out, his fist connecting with Marco's jaw with a resounding thud. Shocked by the sudden turn of events, Marco stumbled backwards, his eyes wide with disbelief and betrayal.

"Stop it!" Mia shouted, her voice filled with urgency as she moved to intervene. But before she could reach them, Dominic had already taken Marco by the arm, his grip firm as he dragged his friend towards the door.

"Let's settle this outside," Dominic growled, his voice tinged with frustration. "We need to figure this out, once and for all."

With a heavy heart, the Nightstalkers watched as Dominic and Marco disappeared through the door, their fate hanging in the balance as they prepared to face the truth of their troubled past. And as the warehouse fell silent once more, the weight of uncertainty settled over the group like a shroud, a silent reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows.
